JA The $32.00 online renewal fee is a reduced amount calculated to offset the $5.70 shipping and handling fees that the online store automatically calculates. If you download/print out the renewal form so that you can pay by check you will find that the membership fee is actually $37.00. Throw in the cost of postage and the envelope and it's pretty much a wash. Ira and Deon are looking at ways to alter the online store's construction to eliminate the shipping & handling charges -- if they can get the system to work, the online membership fee will revert to $37.00. It is a bit confusing but no one is getting short-changed. Unbelievable: The encrypted secure credit card store we put together that is so convenient to allow folks to renew or join, saves volunteers by not having to fat finger data in to the database and you don't have to write a check and lick a stamp...well that store is not yet allowing us to remove shipping charges from just one product (memberships), so until we solve this we reduced the cost of memberships to make up for the charges and we contracted with a membership card company to ship out cards. So we'll get a better fix, I'm conferencing with Deon in about an hour - Drew Yak-List Digest Server wrote: * ================================================== Online Versions of Today's List Digest Archive ================================================== Today's complete Yak-List Digest can also be found in either of the two Web Links listed below. You can go to the RPA web site at http://www.flyredstar.org There is a membership renewal section to select on the left side of the first page. You do not need a password to renew. However if you may have forgotten it or haven't had a chance to use it, drop an e-mail to Deon at deon@flyredstar.org. You can find that info on the first page of the web site also. That allows you to get into the members only part of the web site. He just joined RPA and does look at the list at times - so be careful what you say about. :) The airplane now sits in one of the other hangars here on the field. And we're both looking forward to doing some formation work. (for the U.S.) To the best of my knowledge, this is the first comprehensive DVD video that explains in detail the complete licensing process for experimental amateur built aircraft - showing what/how to fill out the forms, and also demonstrating new capabilities such as reserving an N number by going online and using the FAA website. I'll leave it at that, as full details are available at the www.HomebuiltHELP.com website. In keeping with the list's guidelines, this will be the ONLY post on this matter, and I hope it was valuable to some Yak builders. Thanks! Jon
