Have a look at www.airwear.co.za
The guy who runs the company is called Marc. They have made me a lot of
stuff over the years, from flightsuits to patches to the aerobatic
cotton helmets. They make a fantastic leather helmet, designed around
an original WW2 British one. They supply with headset fitted or just
alone - prices are good, around $250 for the leather helmet with headset
fitted I think.

Not really a helmet, but it will make sure you will not loose your headset
and it takes away the engine noise. Fit's for David Clarks.

Do you know the difference between a 47k ohm resistor and a 47 ohm resistor?

Subject: | Airworthiness Certification |
--> Yak-List message posted by: "Richard Goode" <richard.goode@russianaeros.com>
Sorry for late arrival on this topic - have been in Russia.
As some have already said, I cannot understand why anyone would want to obtain
Normal Category certification.
The practicality is that for a Yak-52 (or indeed a Yak-50 or Yak-55) it is effectively
impossible.=20
These aircraft were exceedingly well designed, but according to Russian (then)
military norms. There was no attempt to obtain any form of civilian certification.=20
To attempt to get Type-Certification, many procedures and systems have to be established
at the time of original design and manufacture. To try to go back and
obtain these respectively for an aircraft that was not designed to Type-Certified
standard (e.g. FAR 23) is almost impossible.
The simple fact is that Aerostar, despite a lot of trying and indeed significant
commercial pressures to do so, have been unable to obtain certification within
their home country of Romania for new production Yak-52s.=20

My dear Yakster friends (and you, too, Ernie, even Frank),
1) Christian Dragoi--are you out there? Doug? Correct me if I'm wrong,
but my understanding is neither the -52 or CJ-6 has any "civilian" "type
certificate" of any kind issued by any "civilian" political entity,
anywhere. They were designed and built for use in times and places where
"civil" aviation was an oxymoron. Yes, I know, DOSAAF was a "civilian"
organization. Right. By the military, for the military. Ergo, no
reciprocal ICAO or JAR type certification is possible, though, as Mark
Jefferies and Dave Sutton have pointed out, they can be operated on the
basis of, and by the rules of foreign registration in the US. "All" you
have to do is operate them in accordance with the requirements of the
country that registered the a/c.
2) Would it be possible to lay off the character assassination? Kids,
please go outside to do your yelling. First it was Fred Ihlenburg, then
Andrew Zheng, now it's Dave Sutton (sorry if I left anyone out). Who wants
to go next? Sheesh, already!
3) Dave, do you still have your Broussard? Just curious. Fine airplane.
We need to organize a fly-in somewhere that has an appreciation for French
women, cheeses, wine and at least one of their airplanes.
And you Florida guys can go to hell. Us real men up here in Seattle like it
cold and wet in winter and cold and wet in the summer. So bugger off!
Nobody likes a smart ass.

Now Jerry, if God had wanted man to live the cold and wet, He would NOT
have made warmth and sun light and He would have made man with fur all over his
body and an umbrella growing up the back of his neck. BTW I wore shorts in my
hangar this afternoon. :)))))
