Pappy, Pappy, Pappy, It is spelled "Voila!". You spelling resemble too much a store chain which shall not be named here... ;-) BTW, it is a beautiful day here also in the great white north, the continental ARTIC air mass arrived yesterday bringing blue skies, unlimited viz and grueling -20c....:-( Cheer, D

    Subject: gear actuator overhaul
--> Yak-List message posted by: "Lance Robb" <lrob4783@bigpond.net.au> Hi Ron, I serviced the actuators and uplocks on our CJ at the last service. I had ordered all genuine parts from China and found the actuator seals were already partially perished when they arrived so I replaced them 1/8th section o'rings which were also fitted at the previous service. When I removed the o'rings previously fitted they could have been confidently re-installed until the next service and didn't have a mark on them. The up-locks have a cup type seal and a soft washer to seal the end gland, these parts really need to be replaced genuine although I did substitute the lead washer for a copper one but care is needed to ensure a good seal when tightening it. Other than that they are straight forward and have an ingnues method of locking the cylinder in fully extended with a series of balls which drop into a recess and can only be released by applying air to the cylinder. Basic, straight forward and very reliable.... I have the kits and ordered a complete one as a spare in case I can't get one open. The old ones work fine but I have no history on their last overhaul. Plan on doing the uplocks too. Any comments on techniques would be nice. Ron Wasson advertising on the Matronics Forums.

    Subject: Springfield (IL) Air Rendezvous
--> Yak-List message posted by: "Jeff Linebaugh" <jefflinebaugh@earthlink.net> Fellow Yakers, We have been invited to participate in the Springfield Air Rendevous in Springfield, IL. The airshow has been set for April 30-May 1. They have hired Team Red, and have asked for us to supply a group of Yaks/CJ for mass formation fly-bys and static display. This will be very similar to the airshow we put on in Jackson TN in October of last year. (Please note: the show was originally scheduled for Sept 2005, but have just moved up their date to accommodate the Blue Angels. We will have to get this organized quickly!) The airshow organizers have offered us free rooms, fuel, oil, and smoke oil in exchange for flying in the show and providing pre-show orientation and press rides. This will also allow us to get pre-show practice in. They are requesting 12-15 aircraft. Desired arrival date is Thursday the 28th, with departures on the 1st. Pilots will need to be current FAST qualified pilots, and Commercial rated or better to take advantage of the rooms and fuel. If you are not commercially rated, you can still participate, just shouldn't accept any of the "Freebies". I will be looking for semi-firm commitments for this show, and will take pilots on a first come basis. Please contact me directly. Anyone that attended the Jackson show will tell you it was a great time, and great to have someone else footing the bill for our fun! I look forward to another great airshow event.... Seal-Send-Time: Sat, 19 Feb 2005 08:10:52 -0800 --> Yak-List message posted by: "Ross Bausone" <WingLeader_GoldenGateWing@msn.com> Hello fellow Yaksters... Has anyone replaced their canopy? (By that, I actually mean done it yourself?) Have you found a suitable replacement for the "Tape" that insulates the edge of the plexiglas sandwiched between the aluminum pieces that hold the plexi in place? I would appreciate any info. While people have recommended using "silicone sealer" I understand this could be nearly impossible to remove in the future. I don't want that headache, nor do I care to pass that along to the next owner... Kind regards, Ross Bausone N254-YK

It doesn't have any glue on it, but it sticks pretty well. So, when you change again, it's easy. :) Wes PS I don't have the part no. handy, but I can look it up if you can't find it. This comes with a separate bottle of silicone adhesive. It also works very well as chafe strip on the landing gear doors, and as a replacement for the brushed on rubber used on the cowling front support ring. Rich Desmond
