--> Yak-List message posted by: NapeOne@aol.com Any one have a problem with wheel balance? My left main vibrated terribly. I had to add nine ounces of stick on wheel weights to correct the problem. It turns out the wheel casting itself was the problem. I used a static balancer and balanced the wheel with and without the tire. The wheel was the problem. To correct the problem, I deriveted the wheel cover plate and placed the weights inside the rim. I liked the looks of the spoke wheel without the cover and left it off. I then cleaned the wheel with MEK and painted it with DupliColor wheel paint. Looks good, smooth as a baby's butt. Had to do the same on the nose wheel, but no wheel cover to deal with. Hope this helps. David H.

--> Yak-List message posted by: "A. Dennis Savarese" <DSAVARESE@ELMORE.RR.COM> As you and I have talked about this problem Dave, wheel castings found on some of the 52's are horribly out of balance. Your solution, other than buying new ones, is really the only solution. I have found a small, rural tire store that has spin balanced a couple of main wheels for me and actually added standard automobile wheel weights to the rim. Not too many stores will do that for you because it's an aircraft tire. It does cure the problem, but it's a bit of a pain to have to go through the process. Although I have no data to substantiate my theory, I believe without the dust covers on the wheels, the brakes will cool better and maybe not fade as quickly on hot days. --> Yak-List message posted by: Bill Geipel <czech6@earthlink.net> Good morning all, I went all the way to Bombai and back, you guys still don't have this settled. I thought for sure that I would come home, we would have pulled out of Iraq, jet fuel cost .15/gal, be able to tear up my commercial ticket and be the lead. Now you think I would be a better lead if I went to an aerobatics course, called AF HQ, use "The Birds" to set the bar, and fly at Oshkosh in a 4 ship in excess of 40 degrees bank during the fleet arrival. Peterbuilt a truck for a man to drive. I think I'll try leading a convoy. (except I have to many of my own teeth.) Blue sky's. (Did anyone put the presentation together for the FAST board so we can change this requirement yet? They are the ones that can change it. How about we forward all 40 days and 40 nights of this stream to them? Misery loves company!)

I was referring to using a building block approach to mint all the fighter pilot wannabees. None of us are going to fire a shot in anger, haul heavy iron, break things or kill people. Least not if flying YAKs for fun. Well, kill people maybe, but that will be because of buffonery.
