Great info,
Thanks a bunch. That's what I needed to know. I think I'll do as the
Russians do...alcohol & glycerin.

Doug,
We don't have new faceplates but we do make faceplate inserts for the older
avionics.
See http://www.engravers.net/aircraft/fp_list.htm for a listing of the
styles we make and
for the KT-76A's which there are two styles see
http://www.engravers.net/faceplates/king/kt76a-1to2.htm

contact Dennis Savarese @ DSAVARESE@ELMORE.RR.COM (YAK52 World). He has been flying
with the Plug wire/US auto plug conversion for about 30 hours now. He has
no complaints. Has about convenced me to do the same. Problem is I just bought
a new set of Chinese plug and have less than 100 hours on them. Will make the
conversion when these $480 plug wear out.

Doug,
Take a look at the Chief Aircraft Catalog (page 5 in the 2003 Catalog) they have
faceplates for the KT-76 A listed.

Deon,
Was stripping and cleaning the oil pump worth the effort?
Mine (also 1990) drains more than 1/2 litre of oil per day to the crankcase.
So I drain the oil after the last flight of the day.
Like to hear about your findings now.
Thanks,
Lieven B.

Subject: | Oil pump and oil pressure |
--> Yak-List message posted by: "Yak52" <yak52@flyredstar.org>
In my view 1/2 liter per day is a lot - mine would sometimes have 1/4 liter
or less if I left it standing for even more than a week, and only sometimes.
What prompted me to strip the oil pump was more inspection and to check on
the valve.
The valve was fine - oil pump was clean, but the oil reservoir and pipes
where filthy. So that alone made it worth my while to clean everything out.
I switched from 100W to 25W60 and decided to clean everything and inspect
with the oil change. Sounds to me you have a stuck or clogged valve.
The complete process took a weekend - I made a special tool by modifying a
wrench to get into the narrow spaces to remove the oil pump. Also had to
remove the generator to get the oil reservoir out. Although quite an effort
it was worth it for me.
Thanks to Dave Petri's advice I filled the pipes from the reservoir to the
oil pump with oil before stating the engine, Oil pressure was up and good
seconds after the engine started.
Deon.
