John,
I always thought Lindbergh's Sirius was one beautiful airplane. But having
owned a Lake LA-4 I can tell you many tales where its low wing, made it the
worlds worst boat. The low wingers never have the utility around the varies
of a shore line. Good boat ramps and beaches are fine, but dock pilings and
wooded shores.
But what a beauty that would be! I'd go for a single float (A-la Kingfisher
or the Zero on float) though.

After looking at Charles Lindbergh's Lockeed Model 8, Sirius, equipped with
floats, I called Wipline to see if they had done anything with a CJ. They
recommended their 2350 floats but confided that it would be an expensive
conversion and that they haven't done a CJ before. Does anyone have any info
on
any Chinese conversion, or any info on float conversions for that matter?

Time is getting short!
Your's truly will be arriving early Sunday. Anyone coming by FD44 on your
way south stop by. We are having a sailing regatta on our seaplane way. You
may find me in a sail boat but I have grudge match I need to win. IF I
dispose of this 'pretender' early I just may head south late Saturday.

While jacking the wing and removing the right main wheel to realign I
noticed some play (1-2mm at the fuselage) fore and aft on the gear leg.
Is this normal? I can't seem to see any way of tightening it up.
Thanks for your help.

I think you need to get to the "keel" where the landing gear meets and
attaches to the frame. It appears you may have a few broken bolts from
previous hard landings.
Good Luck -rs-

Y'all,
Help me put the word out that I have a hangar available at KCJR Culpeper
Airport, Virginia that will be available by the end of April, maybe sooner. It's
a standard T-hanger with a sliding door. It's a great little airport with a
5000x100 runway, GPS, VOR, & NDB approaches. It took 6 years on the waiting
list for me to get this hangar and the list is even longer now, so here's your
chance to get your baby indoors. If you know someone looking for a hangar
please pass this on.
Thanks, Mark

Is that the metal "slot" the gear leg goes through to then attach
inside? There was this hellaceous landing at Show Low, AZ... a story
for another time
Thanks, Rick

Doug;
I will give you the same advise Azat Zaydullin gave me...
Look out for the mechanical brakes, they are terrible, mine(870403) was converted
by Geo. Coy (Clevelands)so I never got to see them.
There is a serious AD on the upper engine mounts...there should be a "entry/inspection"
hole cut just in front of the windshield to access the stiffners. You
should see some strengthening doublers extending back from the two upper mounts
rear of the firewall maybe 12" or so.
Pro's= The most bang for your buck anywhere in the world, also the longwing "holds
on" better doing acro. When I started flying mine Unlimited in '99 a judge
that owns an "M" couldn't believe what he was seeing mine do. dispel the myth
that it rolls any slower than the "M" 320- 360- 420 degrees a second - not
many can tell the difference.
Con= Original mechanical brakes, tail wheel steering does not "caster" - a pain
sometimes but no big deal.
You'll love it
Rick

Looking at the forecast for Saturday, looks like NO weather excuses for
south bound trips to S&F.
Take care, Check that fuel required.
BTW check Airnav.com for the latest fuel prices. Good little flight planner
too.

I'd like to get or build a test stand suitable for an M-14. Anyone have a source
or plans?
Thanks,
