This brings up a curious point. My CJ is pre-moratorium with a C of A of
unlimited expiry. However, the Operating Limitations state certain
northeastern states where the airplane may operate along with to and
from Texas
for maintenance. What if I want to base the airplane elsewhere? Am I
likely to
have to surrender the C of A to get operating limits allowing flight in
the new
area? Or can I merely request new OL's and keep the C of A?

Yakkers
I'd like to relate some first hand experience with upper cylinder
lubrication that might make a believer out of some of you.
Since the day I've been flying my YAK I've never run oil in the gas for
an upper cylinder lubricant......despite all the benefits touted from
running oils like MMO you hear so often on the list.
Recently, after the debate about Marvels Mystery Oil, I decided to try
some 2 stroke oil in my gas.
Almost immediately, I started to notice how much smoother the engine
ran. As most of you probly know, the M14P makes for a great foot
massager with it's vibration.
Well, I'm here to tell you that after running 2 stroke oil in my gas the
engine is running much, much smoother. It made an actual "seat of the
pants" difference in how smooth the engine ran. Believe it!!! A GIB I
sometimes fly with said "What did you do? Put in a new engine?
It's running WAYYYYYY smoother!
I suspect the 2 stroke oil is acting to equalize the running compression
ratios of the cylinders. If you think there may be some other mechanism
at work I'd like to hear it......
Well, for me it's a little expensive to run 2 stroke oils considering
our typical fuel burn so I decided to try MMO. It only costs $20 per
gallon out here in the hinterlands (probly cheaper mail order or by
bulk).
Well, I noticed that it still runs as smooth as if I were running the 2
stroke oil (BelRay). MMO is cheaper than most 2 stroke oils and provides
for the same smooth running engine.
So there you have it folks. If you've never run an upper cylinder
lubricant in your engine I suggest you give it a try with an eye towards
a smoother running engine. I think you'll be surprised by the results.
It's made a believer out of me.
Best Of Luck.

PS I don't run the stuff (MMO) in my oil. I do frequent oil changes
instead (oil is changed between 5 to 10 hours running time). I get very
little, if any, oil accumulation in the bottom cylinders even after the
plane has been sitting for a couple of weeks.

Troops,
Your's truly has just won a grudge race sailing regatta. I came in 3rd over
all but beat for the second year running an English lady who's ancestry
included captains of her majesties' Royal Navy back in the days when we were all
rebels.
Heading out to S&F early in the morning. Only :50 minute flight from here.
Bad news. Understand that Ray Gage wrecked his 52TW at Spruce Creek earlier
today. No details except that she is totaled and Ray and passenger are
unhurt.
See ya at ZPH.

INTERESTING! I have been running MMO in my Cessna 180 since day one...I
don't know why it never occurred to me to use it in my YAK? I'll try it.

Hey guys, I have been using Castor oil with my morning coffee for some time
now. I can absolutely attest that I now have much smoother, uh, movements.
Suddenly it struck me that MMO is cheaper than Castor oil so I started using
that instead. What an improvement!
In addition, I can also attest to greater, uh, 'satisfaction' and 'staying
power'. I strongly recommend the use of MMO.
Oh, and have you tried mushrooms sauteed in MMO? Marvelous!

Jim,
I suspect that if you relocate to outside of the northeastern states where
the OL's say the airplane may operate, you will most likely have to have a
new set of OL's with the latest version of FAA Order 8130.2x which includes
OL's with naming a home base airport. And with the issuance of new OL's
automatically comes a new C of A. They are "married" together. Then
unfortunately, your airplane will no longer be a pre-moratorium airplane.

Actually I started putting lighter fluid in my Martini's years ago, I
then read the thread on MMO so I switched. Makes you poop purple,
otherwise has fixed my stammering, and I also dont shake as much in
