Hi, Preston, best that you get a mechanic familiar with the YAK.
Why reinvent the critical part? 1000's of YAK's/ SU etc (not only 52) but
all the predecessors and the CJ etc all use the same cable system. It
works!!
On the 52 it's a difficult job agreed, we did it the other day, expect about
3 hrs work. If you would like to call my engineer feel free to do so, he
will give you the "do's and don'ts" tips. + 44 1767 651156

Some advice please.
My Yak-52 throttle cable got damaged near the forward cockpit throttle
assembly. Replacement of the cable is indicated. Problem is my mechanic
can't
figure out how to get the old cable out and the new cable in without
removing the
engine from the aircraft. We are beginning to think about replacing the
standard cable with an American cable and adapting it to the engine and
cockpit
control assembly. Does anyone have experience in replacing the 52's
throttle
cable? Any thoughts on replacing the standard cable with an American cable?

Thanks all for the replies, I'll pass the info on about
airplanes which I either know or can vouch for the
dealer/seller. Some I just don't care to mention... Gramma
always said: "if you can't say something good about someone,
don't say anything".
Still getting plenty of inquiries on the flight line. Guys
see the bare anodizing and I point out that it looks like
that on the inside too. Get's their attention, so does the
fuel burn and performance specs. T-6 boys at the Sebring
NATA clinic report flying about 10-15 hours each @ 30GPH,
paying $3.30/gal. All of a sudden we are flying bargains,
Pinko Commies not withstanding.
If fuel prices stay up, there could be a trend towards RPA
type airplanes, which we KNOW are even more fun than big pig
gas hogs. But of course, it is ALL due do RPA training and
flying skills as demo'd at flyins :)

Once again I'm canvassing you Yakistas to see if someone has an ADF taken
from a CJ6 that they want to get rid of. I'd like to put it back in for Wt and
Balance. I think I went through this two or three years ago but ran out of steam
before i arranged to get one. Working would be nice but not essential. You
can contact me off list or on list. Thanks.

Why not put something useful there like smoke oil or O2 and air bottles?

It's APR'er spelled backwards! Sorry could not pass that up.
Really, it is Red Star Pilots association. It used to be the YAK Pilots
Ass. It became Red Star Pilots Ass about 1 1/2 years ago.
