Having skip read a few mails on the subject its clear no on knows what to do to
get coloured smoke, well read on!!
The dye used is biro ink.
the military (RAF) use full NBC suits when handeling it.
then when it gets on UR a/c it permantly stains it.
so basicaly its of no use in a piston engine a/c.
Jet eflux is all at the back end so no problem there but Red arrows have "tainted"
washing on the line and had to compensate the lawndery owners.
topic closed i suspect.
Best regards, Mark

The tips of our 5 year old stainless steel exhaust system are in serious need
of polishing. Any ideas other than "buy a hi-speed polisher"? Will steel
wool/fine emory paper and rubbing compound work? I expect the AZ boys who sport
those pristine chrome tail tie-downs & wheel covers have some experience with
polishing.
Thanks, Dave

YAKKERS,
George Coy has come up with a GREAT IDEA coming up with Military Shielded
assemblies to use with automotive and Russian plugs for our great aircraft.
I will place the pictures on the Yak-list for all to see. Contact GESOCO
directly for more details. His information is listed below:

Mark,
please put the following out on the YAK list:
If anyone is interested, we have a source now for the military shield
assemblies for auto spark plugs. The Romanian engine factory will make them
for us. They will provide them either with the Russian lead end or the
standard U.S. 5/8 in lead end.
The assemblies accept a standard 14 mm spark plug and convert them to a
shielded aviation spark plug assembly.
They will be about $30.00 each. They will pay for themselves with the
first
spark plug change!
See attached pictures.

Great Idea? Those of us who have been Yak'n for 10 or more
years know that the screw on adapters were locally
manufactured and used long ago. Today we short-cut all the
Russian harness BS and go directly with EMI/RFI suppressive
automotive racing wire straight to auto plugs. Get away from
that 5MM junk wire and water-retaining harness and go with
8MM quality stuff.

Dave
During the restoration of my YAK, I used 2000 grit sandpaper to polish
the landing gear struts. There was a general sandblasted appearance to
the landing gear struts and the 2000 grit polished them right up to look
like new. May work for exhausts too.
Also, found another use for Marvels Mystery oil.........After regular
use it lubricates the O-ring on the primer.....no more really stiff
primers and no more fuel leakage onto your hand as you prime :)

A busted wiring harness, and weather did me in.
FD44 to CKF
CKF to ACJ
ACJ to 15J
15J to VLD ($4.00/gal !!!!!)
VLD to FD44
That was it for me. Beside meeting some really nice people at Americus
(ACJ), GA. and getting really interment with my ignition harness, that was my
week end.
The crew at ACJ a major crop duster repair shop, were really helpful. They
figured out the problem for me, than gave me a hangar spot and pointed to
their tool boxes for anything I needed.
Dennis Savarese shipped me one of his new harness over night express and by
late afternoon the next day I flight tested it. Check is in the mail Dennis.
Thanks a bunch.
Saturday I was totally weathered in ALL day.
I found a phone message on my cell phone early Sunday morning from a bunch
drunk merry makers in a place called SPI. Obviously we need some dispensary
action on those troops.
After doing some rather serious scud running and a number of stops, I
finally made it home around 1700 today.
The trail boss Jeff Linebaugh, reported to me that he was very proud of the
17 aircraft that showed and did a superb job. INCLUDING THE DOWN WIND
EMERGENCY LANDING PERFORMED BY ONE OF OUR OWN !!!
DETAILS. I WANT DETAILS!
