Its a real pity that people who convert to wet wing dont take the trouble to do
the job properly, it just gives "wet wing" a bad name.
The Russians used wet wing years ago on the Yak 55, how many of those leak? 20
years on None in my experiance, like wise none of our Yak 52 wet wing conversions
leak.
The advantage of making the inner tank bay wet wing as opposed to bladder is the
leading edge space can be used. Later today I will take a look at the inner
tank bay and advise what has to be done, putting the u/c wiring in conduit is
for sure, unless you pass this through the spar.
cheers, MJ

Of the ones I've seen the tank bays converted to wet wing tanks, they all
leak. That's the reason for pursuing a fuel bladder for the same cavity.
If the bladder can fit snugly into the cavity, I see no reason why we can't
get 20-30 liters additional fuel per side by just taking up the unused
space.
Best regards, Mark

Gang,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Roger Modglin was killed
yesterday after crashing during his air show routine. The details are
still sketchy at this time, but more important are our thoughts and
prayers for his family and friends....
While I only knew Roger from flying together at various air shows
around the country, he was a gentle, unassuming man and a very
professional pilot. He will be sorely missed....

Jim Bernier The fuel cells are fairly easy to install. the most difficult part
is removing the hardware supporting the existing tanks and preparing the fuel
bay to receive the new cells. There is some new vent lines to be installed and
mod's to the fuel gauge wiring. The hard point mounts were installad in China
and had to be removed because of interference with the cells. They are fabricated
steel and were attached to the forward and aft spars. The guy that developed
the cells is Gill Guiterrez @ 602 692 9788. IF you want nore info. my cell

The cells are a rubber material, foam filled. They are manufactured by a company
specializing in race car cells.Adds about 20 more Gal's. Gill guiterrez @ 602

Thanks Jill for the info. I'm working on a more simple solution; only the
existing fuel bays.

I am very distressed to learn of our friend Rodger Modglin's passing.
Anyone that knew Rodger knew he was a kind and talented man, and an
exceptional pilot.
I just spent a weekend flying with Rodger and Terry and the Yak gang from
Denver.
We had a great time and put on a great show.
I'll see you when I get there Rodger, save me a spot at the pilots bar.

I knew Rodger and have nothing but respect for him. My thoughts are for his
family and for Terry Callaway his team mate.

CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) _ The pilot of a single-engine aircraft that crashed
during an air show performance died today of his injuries.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 55 year-old Rodger Modglin of Owasso was
transported to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with head injuries after the crash
yesterday. The patrol says Modglin died at the hospital early Sunday
morning.
Modglin's Yak-52 aircraft crashed during the Wings Over Oklahoma Air Show at
the Claremore airport, located seven miles east of Claremore in Rogers
County.
Authorities say the crash occurred while the aircraft was performing an
inverted roll. The airplane stalled while upside down and crashed on its top.
There were no reports of any injuries on the ground
