For those of you are free this weekend and in the NE (Rob and Marj
your busy so this email's not for you :) ) The EAA is having their NE
Regional Fly-In this weekend at GFL (Glenn Falls) 8/19-2. I just
spoke to the organizer and there are a few Yaks scheduled to be there
and a few more would be great! A few CJs would be OK too.

Al,
Not a stupid question at all, the problem is that the space is limited and
we are trying to come up with a stainless steel or glass bottle which will
fit both the 52's and the CJ's stock mounting location. Progress is being
made but the going is slow. As of this writing I still do not have a scrap
52 bottle. Anyone out there that has a N/G 52 bottle please contact me off
list.
Always Yakin,

Doug,
Stupid question, but how about going the reverse route for air
bottles. Having someone modify brackets/system to use standard
scuba/air bottles. That makes the modification easy and replacing
standard bottles later very cheap.

Hello Yakistas,
My Votage Regulator has gone West and I'm looking for anyone who might have
the Solid State VR that the Chinese AF used when they modified their aircraft.
It's the slim flat box that goes inon the rack behind the pilot's seat.
Mounted on the frame behind the firewall, where the older style VR's are, is a
plate
with a plug which serves as a heat dissipator. Don't need that. Any White
Knights out there?

Would appear to be Spatial Disorientation as the primary cause of loss of

Hey everybody, there's a nice little airshow in historic Wendover, Nevada the
26-27th of August. I usually fly a formation flight with a T-34 (OK, no
"kissing your sister" jokes, please) but my Chang is down and won't be ready. The
organizer is named Tom Petersen and he can provide show fuel and a room at a
local Casino Hotel and would like some YAks and such. Wendover was where they
worked up the B-29's for the atomic bomb raids and it's cool, although a very
stark place. You can roar around the desert over the old ranges and target
areas. Very cool. If you like that sort if thing, of course.
Here's Tom's Email. I post it to see if anyone close by might want to come
out for it.

Try this, when you get the NTSB page up go on the inquiry and scroll down
to 26 July 05. Above that you will also see the RV/Rutan midair.

The P-51 accident gives me pause. How many times have we done the same sort of
"tail chase" or gentlemen's acro while in trail without a full briefing or understanding
of the capabilities or desires of our wingmen? I have been scared
"nearly to death" by this kind of thing and I think this is a good time to
reaffirm our commitment to safety. I could be wrong, but I would bet that this
impromptu tail chase was not briefed (as it was done while they were holding
to do a flyover at OSH), and I don't know what #4 thought about formation acro.
(A simple roll may not be so simple if three split S's out and #4's attention
gets diverted from flying his plane to watching #3. Especially if he's not
a proficient acro pilot.) I had heard at OSH that everyone thought #4 must
have just been incapacitated as they lost him on a rejoin. From the eyewitness
report, it looks like something else entirely.
Think about it. If you are uncomfortable in a tail chase...SAY SO! Call Knock
it off and fly your own plane the way you want to (right side up is OK).
Peer pressure can lead to disasterous results.
Respectfully,
Walt Fricke
