Apparently a Yak 55 departed Sanford Florida on delivery trip to Nevada. Plane started burping and farting and losing power. Pilot did an excellent job of putting the plane down in a cow pasture. Unfortunately he didnt notice our runway 1/2 mile away. A neighbor got to him, the pasture owner cut the fence and he was towed into our community. Still dont know exactly what went wrong, fuel was drained and system checked. Did a full run up yesterday. He's going to fly over the airfeild for about an hour today before continuing onto Nevada. Ernie P.S. He is friends with the guy holding the flyin at Wendover. Apparently the guy is restoring a Shturmovic. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:22:02 AM PST US From: "Fraser, Gus" Subject: RE: Yak-List: Yak 55 Off field --> Yak-List message posted by: "Fraser, Gus" How long was it sitting outside and were the tanks full ? For those interested, Vladimir has 2 engines for sale from the same batch. They are owned by someone else. Vlad can put you in touch with them. I registered with him already and we hope to field a 4 to 6-ship formation on Sat & Sunday. Besides the usual expenses, there is a $500 donation to the RPA. Hopefully we can hook up with other such gigs via the big airshow producers out there. I keep pitching the RedStar Racers Exhibition but no joy yet. Craig Payne cpayne@joimail.com
