The a/c spec mentioned below is a typical canadate for OH. Just the parts for 59/60
& 107 will cost 15,000 USD. With the works done at Aerostar for the embodiment
of this mandatory bulitin will be 24,000 USD. (aerostar quote in 1996) U/C
legs and lifters OH is 4000 USD, Then add the remaining OH costs with new glasses
and painting you pay more than buying a younger a/c thats been through
the OEM or approved company OH process. Scrap a/c as described below sell for
15-20,000 USD in Ukraine, its the labour and parts that add most value. Like teh
AN2, 5000$ for a scrapper, buy the time its flying its 60,000 $+
Also I note the serial number is not correct, does the a/c have original logs or
is it a "bogus" reserection?
get what u pay for, its sales like these that get the type a bad name hence the
YAK 52 prices have not appreciated like the CJ6. The sooner these scrap a/c are
either properly overhauled or scrapped the better for the community.

Folks,
I too had plans to re-invent the wheel with "another" forum but scrapped it
pretty early on. I did not want to add to the growing mix. My intent was to
gather all the information and experience here into one EASY place for those
that own these airplanes and those that are interested in them. This list is
a fantastic place for some of that but it is not very user friendly. I
honestly don't think this group would survive without some sort of place to
go. I think it would benefit us all to find ONE place to post and share. Gus
has a good thing and so does the "YPA". I think we need to find a new
"easier" home in either place..
Just my thoughts..

I can vouch for these exhaust systems having worked with Gary Green when he
first built the systems.
Installed in my own CJ with the Huosai engine for several years, then on my
M14 in the same airplane.
Sold many systems to satisfied CJ6 owners.
Definitely the answer to exhaust leaks and deterioration problems.
I am glad to hear that Kimballs have taken over manufacture of this great
product!

I have a Gary Green exhaust systems on my Huosai 285. Is it possible to
substitute the section containing the heater cuff for the existing section, or
must
I replace the entire system? My wife justifiably complains that the back seat
is miserably cold during the winter.
All of which reminds me with winter approaching it's time to get yourselves
one or two of the Red Star Pilots Association's great mock turtleneck long
sleaved shirts. Comes in black and white. A very snappy addition to your winter
flying gear. Go to

Blitz,
We can add the heat studs and shroud to your exhaust segment. Do you plan
to have the A/C down this winter for maintenance? If, yes, we could most
likely do it at that time if you send the segment to us. We have a ton of work
to catch up on with current back orders but we should be able to get to yours
in a month or two.

Dear Yak Listers,
If this Yak List isn't up to the standards you desire, please let me
know what you would like to see in it. I have invested a great deal
of my own money and time making this site as reliable,
high-performance, and trouble free as possible. I have online
archives dating back to the beginning of the Yak List back in March
of 1999 when Brian asked me to set the list up. Further
demonstrating my long-term commitment to this effort, members will
find that there are online archives dating back to April of 1990 when
I started the RV-List. That's 16 years of service to that community.
I think this long-term commitment to the aircraft community has
tremendous value in today's "here-today, gone-tomorrow" Internet
environment. I am certainly not trying to bad-mouth the offerings of
others with respect to their efforts in making other options
available. That being said, there is value in supporting a specific
community that has been in it for the long-haul.
If there are features that List members want, then please drop me
some personal email. I do monitor every single List here on the
Matronics servers, but that's a lot of daily email and I may or may
not catch a current discussion, in particular regarding a desire for
new or additional features.
I have a great deal of personal commitment to this site and want to
make it what the majority of the List members would like it to
be. Tim Gagon above mentions that he considers this site "not very
user friendly". But what does that mean exactly? Yes, it is not a
PHP, web-based browsing site, but I personally see that as an
advantage. The List Browse feature allows members to browse the last
7-days worth of messages just like the PHP systems. The Search
Engine allows members to pull up information from the last 6+ years
in a matter of seconds.
The Yak List is, at the core, an email-based exchange forum. In my
opinion, this format offers the best all-around functionality when
coupled with the other utilities available such as the List Browse,
and Search engine. A feature I currently don't have enabled for the
Yak List is that ability to post pictures. I can easily enable this
if members would like that.
Please help me make this site what you would like it to be. Let's
not fracture the content across multiple sites. As Brian pointed
out, this serves only to dilute the available content.
As I mentioned earlier, I am personally committed to providing a
high-quality, highly-available discussion forum for the aircraft
community. I think my track record over the last 16 years has proven
that time and time again.
Respectfully submitted,
Matt Dralle

Matt,
It would be a shame to see this list fall by the wayside. It serves a large
purpose in the YAK/CJ/Delphin/Sukoi/Albatros ect community. Sure being able
to post a picture with an email input would be nice but the other way works
ok too. Took me a while to figure it out though and that may be the rub. As
far as email archives go, this is pretty simple by most standards. The RPA
(YPA for the diehards in the crowd) site and Gus's site are nice sites, but
are fragmented. No we do not have a detailed long running thread on an
individual topic under its sole window that addresses only that topic for
it's the entire life. This site survives because of free association.
Sometimes the topic is not necessarily all about flying Red Star Aircraft
and I'm am certainly guilty of that at times as are many others. One thing
for sure, if you have a question ask it and you will get an answer. It may
not be what you wanted to hear but it is still the answer.
Has anyone paid attention to the Warbirds List? It is dead..we could easily
use all thier silicon bit space for the last 3 years up in a couple of
months. Fragmenting the discussion can certainly send us down the same road.
So, Matt after all that drivel, do not change a thing. From my
humble...well more like aerogant opinion, Topics on the List (threads) are
like reeling in 6 lb trout on a 2 lb leader...you just have to let them
run sometimes before they tire out.

Blitz,
There are a lot of cute things I could add to that comment, but I
won't....well...maybe one....Real fighter pilots don't fly with thier wives
in the winter...hormones you know...they are always cold.
As for the "mock turtle necks", thanks for the reminder. They really are
pretty cool and warm too!

Matt,
I think a more traditional forum would help tremendously but it would come
at a cost. Something like this: (And I just googled Forums software so I
have no ties to these folks)
http://demo.webboard.com/
It would make it easier to navigate and could add some usability to the
forum. It would also add some "curb" appeal for those that may be interested
in these airplanes.
I am sure everyone here has benefited from you efforts and I for one
appreciate them. My thoughts of a "new" forum were only because I think the
work involved may be something more than what you were willing to do. It
would be completely different than what you have given us here.
Just a thought.
Tim

Is there any reason one could not replace the hard airlines with a flexible

Also, I need a new pressure gage..anyone out there know where I could get
one????? The housing on mine is toast!

Tim,
Hard lines are less prone to failure then flex lines. Flex lines should be replaced
at reguliar intervials to prevent in-flight failures (typicaly every 5 years).
You will need to use flex lines to connect to items that move or vibrate to
reduce inducing failure at that point in the system.
