Scott,
The Yk-55 parts catalogue shows the part number for the Yak-50 exhaust
system. This is also the same as the Yk-52 but without the heat muff.

I would like some input on an idea. What are the thoughts about putting a Walter
601p turbo prop engine on the Yak 52. I have access to a good one at a very
low price and it seems interesting. I wonder how much increase in cruise would
be seen. Naturally there are issues regarding fuel capacity that would need
to be worked out. Engine would be lighter. Its worth a conversation

Bob,
You still got to defeat the Clark Y airfoil. That is your big draggy wing hanging
out there like a big parasite. The TWs are not significantly faster because
of that. But man, you ought to go up stairs like a Raped Ape!

Bob,
What do you want to do fly at VNE all day? Your fuel burn would be
atrocious, not to mention the cost of the engine mount, cowling, fuel
tanks. CG would be all out of whack causing you to mount the thing
waaaay out front. And it would be ugly as sin. There was actually a
thread about this several years ago, and someone actually posted a
pic.

Ever wonder why Yakovlev didn't put a turboprop (doesn't matter what kind) in the
YAK 52M. It still will have the venerable M14.
Fuel capacity is certainly a problem. But not insurmountable. Even if you gained
25% in cruise speed (which I seriously doubt because of the Clark Y airfoil),
your fuel burn would at least double. I guess I would have a hard time justifying
twice the fuel burn for a minimal increase in cruise.
Lastly, for all of us round engine lovers, what a pity it would be to not be able
to distinguish a Yak from all the other spam cans when coming into the pattern.
Then if you ever tried to sell it, you'd probably have a rude awakening
about how desirable it is.
Just my 2 cents.

The Yak-52 with the Gear hanging down, I don't think any type Engine will help
it go faster, a CJ -6 would work alot better, I had someone ask me about the
CJ a few Years ago.

The truth is the only thing you'd gain is better rate of climb and max
altitude.
That single seat CJ airplane with the slim nose that Jim saw in China, well
if its the one I saw at the PLAF museum out side of Beijing, that was a prop
for a war movie. It was suppose to be an American imperialist "F-84" in a
movie about Korea. At least that was what I was told by the museum's director.
I could see the out line of 'stars and bars' on the side were they had once
been painted, but they could have been PLAF 'star & bar' also.

Might anyone know of a source for vented caps (that seal when inverted) that
will tolerate 5606 hydraulic fluid? My brake fluid resevoir has a cap with
a 20 thousandths hole in it and after any sort of negative G flight, most of
the fluid is pushed out of the small casister and down the side of my
airplane. Has any one else had this problem aand solved it?
Thanks
