    Subject: Russian MTV Props
    To explain the position impartially: Speriott in Russia (manufacturer of the 2-blade propeller) told MT that they would be getting an order for very large numbers of 3-blade propellers, and MT agreed a licensing arrangement whereby Speriott would pay a certain amount per propeller sold, and this money would be paid against the serial numbers of propellers manufactured. These propellers could not be exported and could only be used inside the Soviet Union. This initially went well, although the numbers of propellers were far less than envisaged, until it became clear to MT that only a proportion of the propellers being manufactured were declared to them. MT in consequence have said that they will not service any of these 'black' propellers, although they will not be so difficult with those propellers that have been declared to them and on which licence fees have been paid. Speriott themselves will overhaul the 3-blade propellers they have made, but it is a total nightmare to get the propellers into Russia and then out again, and barely worth the effort!     Folks, The new chapter 7 "mass formation" is complete and uploaded on the RPA website, as are the updated fast training form. The mass formation room is being opened with this document and we have recieved the new tactical formation chapter and its pending upload... The presidents message has an update to the bylaws changes and elections that are open for folks to self nominate, or nominate others, and explains how and when... And the proposed bylaws, that completes the regionalization of the association and significantly strengthans the board of directors, are open for download on the home page!     Subject: MTV-3 three blade vs V530 two blade.........Is their a difference?
    MTV-3 has NO help in cruise just in climb. I have seen 3-5 knots slower speed over the 2 blade which makes sense since it was designed for Acro performance not cruise. 23% more thrust between a 2 blade and the MTV-3 prop.     Subject: MT Props Versus 2-Blades
    To make it clear, I am very biased in favour of MT props - that is why I sell them! However, I do feel the following is objective: MT POSITIVE: In terms of performance, one should be comparing the new -29 blade in an MTV-9 rather than the old MTV-3 with -27 blades. (We have done genuine back-to-back and 'converted' figures showing improvements of between, depending on parameter, 2% - 12.5% going from -27 to -29 blades). I would disagree with Mark, and, particularly with the -29 blades we have definitely seen increase in both cruise and top speed. However the really noticeable difference is in thrust and therefore acceleration/climb. The MT prop is intrinsically smoother. They are typically better balanced from new/overhaul. In any case they are much easier to balance - unless you have a spinner on your 2-blade. They have a one-piece leading-edge, making it much more difficult for water penetration. The leading-edge is stainless steel on the MT and therefore much stronger and resistant to stone damage. For aerobatics, the MTV-9 changes pitch quicker. MTV NEGATIVE: Cost! At 250cm it is 2-inches longer - only a possible problem on rough surfaces and if nose-wheel tyre is not hard.     That squares with my experience. Often if you tell MT the serial number on a Russian "MT" prop, they will tell you that no such serial number exists. This presumably means they didn't get the royalty they expected.
