If anyone has an MTV-3 of older style that is not in service.
Or one or more of the blades for this prop.. .
I'd be interested in acquiring for spare parts.
I'd love to have an extra blade or set of blades, just in case.

Subject: | Air start distributor timing |
I am new to the list and looking for some help. I have my Murphy Moose Quick build
ready to fly after just 3.5 years and yesterday pushed it outside and cannot
get it to start.
I have an M14B with a P nose case
V530 prop
M9-35 mags
Savage Magneto harness
Slick Start
I got the air start distributor out of time because at some point I thought I would
remove the tach gen housing and put a plate over it ( a buddy has an M14P
with electric start and we put a plate over it).
When reinstalling the tach housing the air distributor gear slips back and no longer
turns the distributor.
Anyhow I set the timing but am confused as to the 1MM reference in the manual.
Direction of rotation also seems a little vague. My air start turns the motor
but peters out at at about 500 psi.
I got it to fire just once. I timed the mags using George Coy's timing procedure
which is the only source I could find - pretty sure I did it correctly but now
perplexed.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated as I need to push it out of the
hanger into the cold today or tomorrow.

Hi Steve;
Some questions:-
1. What prop flange angle did you use for setting the mag. firing angle?
2. What number is stamped on each mag housing under the distributor cover?
Walt

Steve
I found the air distributor valve very difficult to time without a fixture to hold
the rotor in place while you reassemble the valve.
I have not seen a Russian fixture but I was able to modify the Chinese tool. Part
No. H6G 816 in the Chinese engine
parts manual.
