Dear Listers,
Who is Matt Dralle and what exactly are these Lists? Well, I've been working in
the information technology industry for over 20 years primarily in computer
networking design and implementation. I've also had a rather extensive background
in web development and CGI design during this period.
I started the Matronics Email Lists back in 1990 with about 30 fellow RV builders
from around the world. Since that time, I have added 50 other kinds of aircraft
related Lists to the line up and numerous other List related services such
as the Archives and Search Engine just to name a few.
For the upmost in flexibility and reliability, I have chosen to run all of my own
servers here locally. Other support systems include a 1 Gigabit, fully switched
network infrastructure, a commercial-grade Netscreen firewall, a Barracuda
spam filter, a local T1 Internet router, and a commercial business T1 Internet
connection with static addressing.
The computer servers found here include two, dual processor Xeon Linux systems
dedicated to the email and web functions respectfully, and another P4 Linux system
serving as a remote storage disk farm for the archives, databases, and for
an on-line, hard drive-based backup system with 3.2 Terabytes of storage. This
entire system is protected by multiple commercial-grade uninterrupted power
supply (UPS) systems that assure the Lists are available even during a local
power outage!
I recently upgraded all of the computer racking infrastructure including new power
feeds and dedicated air conditioning for the room that serves as the Computer
Center for the Matronics Email Lists. Here's a new composite photo of the

As you can see, I take running these Lists very seriously and I am dedicated to
providing an always-on, 24x7x365 experience for each and every Lister.
But building and running this system isn't cheap. As I've stated before, I don't
support any of these systems with commercial advertising on the Lists. It
is supported 100% through List member Contributions! That means you... and you...

The strong 304 is certainly the best and most comfortable chute, while your at
it get the static line option, approx 50$ also. makes PAX briefing easier, ....just
jump !!! The static line attached direct to the closure pins so if that
does not work nothing will. In a panic or unusual attitude jump you could well
hit the tailplane and be unconscious but still come down to tell the story.
One criticism of strong they make the harness fit all, but in Europe we don't eat
as many big macs so spare harness is in abundance!! :>)))
2" high density foam cushion is strongly recommended. 5ft 8" person may need 2"
hard base to bring to the best height in a 52.
We have sold over 100 of these chutes and no complaints, saying that no one has
used one!!

Craig,
According to about 90% of the people who responded to my request for help,
you are absolutely right. The Strong chutes seem to be the way to go. I've put
two of those with the lumbar supports,zip out foam, and red star logos on my
CJ "need" list, - along with the carbon monoxide detector.
What can I say? The Yak list breakfast club is "awesome".
Thanks "Doc" for the "ditto" and Dennis for the update on the $ extra for
the Red Star. Since my membership to Red Star is being processed....of course
I MUST have the logo. (Laugh). Too bad about the customer service problem. I
hope that this was just an unfortunate isolated incident and not SOP for the
company.
What are your prices on the chutes as specified Dennis? I've also heard that
the "porosity" on Strongs is the best.
I just got back from about 10 days SCUBA diving, so I've really neglected
my emails among other things, but am catching up. While we're at it, the CJ
is still awaiting the annual and pre purchase inspection, so if you guys out there
have any other recommendations about what I should have done or added to
it while I'm at it, I would appreciate it. ( I'll have to see what I can do now,
or will do when my wallet recovers later.)
Ah Cliff, I got a real kick out of your bail out recommendation - "Stay there,
I'm going for help!" If you don't mind, I'm going to use that one. That was
hilarious. I'll just have to be sure that my friends have a sense of humor
or they won't fly with me. (Grin).
On another subject, the only other aircraft that I've ever been part owner
in was a T-34. It was so long ago that about all I recall is flying it and spending
all weekend keeping the shiny fuselage (not painted) polished.
It broke my heart when the Texan who bought it from me immediately crashed
it showing off over his ranch when he flew it home and induced an accelerated
stall. I also felt bad that he bought the farm while doing so. I've decided that
while none of us will ever achieve perfection, (speaking for myself) I will
continue to strive for it and excel at recovery if I can't avoid creating the
problem in the first place.
Nice as it was, I think that the CJ will be the best and I am certainly fortunate
in not having to deal with the problems the T-34 is confronting now.

Gang,
The first two of our initial batch of 6 fully overhauled CJ-6A's are on
the water as I write this and will be here in time for Christmas.
While a bit big for a stocking stuffer, these CJ's would certainly make
a statement by the Christmas tree.... ;) One of the two aircraft is
sold and we are now taking deposits on the other 5. For more
