Subject: Last "Official" Day To Make Your List Contribution!!
--> Yak-List message posted by: Matt Dralle <dralle@matronics.com> Dear Listers, Well, its November 30th and that means three things... 1) Today I am officially 42 years old (sympathy is appreciated)! 2) It marks that last "official" day of the List Fund Raiser! 3) Its the last day I will be bugging everyone for a whole year! :-) If you use the Lists and enjoy the content and the no-advertising, no-spam, and no-censorship way in which they're run, please make a Contribution today to support their continued operation and upkeep. Your $20 or $30 goes a long way to further the List operation and keep the bills paid. A Lister wrote a funny message in the comments field of his Contribution that I thought summed things up pretty well: "Worth every penny and I'm a tightwad!" Thank you to everyone that has made a Contribution so far this year! It is greatly appreciated. 1. Rudder Fabric cracks - this only happens on the Y52, we solved this problem years ago by changing the resonance frequency I think!! Place a triangle patch about 12" per side over all the tapes, this supports the area and at the back covers the tape so air cant get under it and lift. You formation guys fly formation with sun light reflecting in the vibration area, you wont be able to focus on anything as the fabric is moving so fast, realy it's a blur - scary!!! 2. As I said, install QuickTime, it's the latest version needed to view the vids. 4 vids here http://www.loop.aero/loop_tv.html

I've heard of people putting hard foam underneath the area of the rudder that flutters and gluing it in. Frank YAK-52 N9110M K32 PS... as it say's on my T-shirt --- " I'm a YAK-52 guy and you're a homo "

I'm in the process of refinishing my wood blades. I have multiple small crackes in the paint (similar to most yaks at OSH this year) . I assumed this would sand out prior to getting to the cloth. I'm now down to the cloth and the cracks appear deep to it. I know Craig has removed the cloth and replaced it with Kevlar. Craig how is the Kevlar holding up, how difficult was it to rebalance. If you had to do it over again would you have just sent to Whirlwind. Advantages/disadvantages. All comments greatly appreciated Thanks Brian Craig Payne <cpayne@joimail.com> wrote: >Does anyone have a good source or info for beefing up the upper section of >the Yak-52 rudder where the paint tends to crack? Thanks > > The cracks in the paint is from fabric vibration caused by a resonance. Happens on CJ's also. I had to re-tape my rudder fabric not too long ago. My short term fix was to lay more reinforcing tapes over the affected area but I really think that a foam filler underneath the fabric would be a long-term fix. Zoey <zalbrecht@datatechnique.com> Shane, did you get the by-law election ballot "e-com", and did you vote using the link to that online form?? I can and want the association to support automated event registration and until the web is redone to be easier and more accessible, and even afterwards, I would like to use your event as a test bed for using e-coms to the membership as a platform for real time event registration - such that an e-com will go out on your event and a link to a registration form will be right there, click and register. The listed info is then saved on our server and it will be sent to you as a simple text file, simply open it in EXCELL and you have all your data. You can print this excell spreadsheet and use it as the sign in.event fee payment tracker to insure those who attend pay your event fee and signed your hold harmless. I will have our e-com vendor whip up the registration form tomorrow and it will go out asap. Just send me any thing, in your words, you would like in the e-com, I already have the basic info here, but you can speak to the membership in your own words...
