There are probably more members in the SE that do not use their email regularly,
read the list, or access the RPA site enough to be aware of this vote. (You
know, country boys, red necks, and hillbillys) I'll get on the phone with the
numbers I have and would suggest that might be a way of getting this done.

Vote. Particularly if you are in favor of the new By-laws. There are 33 members
down here who have not voted so far. Since by-laws require a 2/3 majority
is to pass, not voting or failing to vote, is the same as a no vote. Even if
your vote is no, still vote. We need to know if you are getting the message.
Now I personally hope you'll vote for the by-laws. I truly believe that regional
representation of the BoD is the best direction for RPA to go. This is the
major change in the By-laws that I personally feel strongly about. Are the
By-laws perfect? None ever are. But I believe this is the best step forward.

Brian, does it replace the stock reg, or is added to the existing system.

I am finding this whole vote thing interesting. Has anybody asked the
question, "how will this voting affect my flying?" If the answer is,
"not at all," then how the vote turns out is not particularly important.
The accuracy of the vote would then be equally unimportant.
Regional "representation" (or any "representation" for that matter)
doesn't strike me as being too all-fired critical. Regardless of
"representation" we need individuals to step up to the plate and deal
with things. Formal organizational structure does not equal people
getting things done. Someone has to step up and organize regional fly-ins.
But the people who are actually motivated to do that will do that
regardless of how RPA is organized. And we do need someone to handle the
paperwork for FAST but we have that too. And we have the shell of RPA to
provide the appearance of legitimacy that makes other FAST signatory
organizations and the FAA happy. (In a bureaucracy it doesn't matter
what you actually do, you only need to have the *appearance* of doing it
right.)
So what you need is a way to communicate with your fellow fliers and for
a couple of you to actually plan something. If you live in the SE,
someone pick a place and plan a fly-in. The rest of you show up. It is
that simple and your vote on the by-laws will have absolutely no effect
on your flying experience.

This will be a module that is added to the existing electrical system
and VR. It does not change the operation of any of the existing
components and is only minimally invasive to the existing wiring. The
only thing we do is insert a pair of relay contacts between the existing
generator switch and the generator. The rest is a small amount of new
wiring.

Sooo, a block of hotel reservations just happens? the FBO is prepared to host us
with ramp space, fuel truck, oil for radial engines, and extra help when we
appear? Same FBO just happens to have extra crew vans available as loaners? Resturants
happen to have banquet rooms just waiting for someone like us to show

That "someone" who plans also makes sure IP's and Check pilots just appear...and
happens to have a FAST school presentation and workbooks ready to go? In the

Hmmm In about 3 weeks time, the guys (25 of them) in the SE are going to AYS
for a clinic. They'll be getting a free dinner, vans, and lunches. There
will be an acro box. Can you do that on the spare of the moment when ever you
felt like it without help? I don't think so.
Does that effect your flying? No. Only you can effect your flying.

Not to mention the underwriting of the AYS event by Canon Insurance
which only happened because of the RPA and elected board members!

Pappy,
I'm with you! In the baston of Civil Rights Activism, Alabama, I had never heard
of it until a "Black Activitist" decided to celebrate a pagen holiday of questionable
origin during the time of the birth of our lord! Kwanzaa!
Hum, "though shalt have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3).
Guess it will all get sorted out when we take the eternal dirt nap.

It is always funny to see what happens when one goes about goring sacred
cows. I know that someone has to do all those things. The key point is
that someONE needs to do that. The mythical magical *organization*
doesn't do it; *real* *people* do it. And those real people will step up
to accomplish this task regardless of any *official* organization.
This is like people sitting around and saying, "why didn't the
GOVERNMENT do something?" My response is, "why don't *YOU* get off your
ass and do something?" So when people stand around saying, "why isn't
RPA putting on a fly-in down here," my response is, of course, "why
aren't you getting off your ass and putting on a fly-in down there?"
Want a fly-in? Put one on. Get with the other guys in your area you know
will work on a project to the end and just do it.
It is like this corporate guy I am working with on a start-up out here.
He has been so into doing org-charts, work-flows, and ISO certification
that he has forgotten that someone actually has to turn a screwdriver
and string wires. Turning a screwdriver and stringing wires (or
coordinating with the FBO or making copies of the FAST manual) makes
things actually work.

But it is theirs to be duped. Seems the Black Community is their own
worst enemy. Living in the VI where I was part of the 20% white minority
was an even greater education.
But the key factor is that they are happy with their lot. More power to 'em.

Oh, just smile, shrug, and go flying. You will feel *much* better.
My father gets that way sometimes. When he does, I pour him a good beer
and we recite our mantra together:
It's not my problem.
It's not my problem.
It's not my problem.
After about 50 recitations we are laughing. No worries mate!

And Poof! Red Air Fall Fling just happened. Thanks to Scottie, Jeff, Dennis, Pappy,
Craig, Shane, Doc, Pumper, Kilo, Talon, and others I can not remember that
made contributions in their own ways. RPA being a major contributor with advise
on "how to".
To make a fly-in happen takes a lot of work from a lot of people. RPA is the frame
work for us to work within. Vote Yah or Nay..just make your voice heard.

It seems to me that for an organization like Red Stars we really should have
regional representation. For example, if you fail to vote for the current
bylaws then RPA will not have regional representation. I think it would then
fall on the National coordinators (guys like Drew) to organize EVERYTHING. I
doubt they are going to do that for all regions of the country on a
continuing basis. Bottom line is few will devote a majority of their time
and effort for free so you have little choice but to divide those
responsibilities regionally among willing volunteers.
All RPA staff are volunteers. So, yes, ohh yee little Brian spunt, the vote
does affect RPA's organizational abilities and thus your flying activities
as part of an organized group.

I did. Great day. I introduced my girlfriend's grandkids to general
aviation. Her granddaughter (age 15) was at first afraid to fly but then
went with us anyway. I finally got her into the right seat and showed
her how to make the airplane turn. I think I made a convert.
Yeah, it was a good day.
