But if you fly for an hour you will need 750 -800 lts average sortie, T/O, climb,
cruise, run n break.
Why fly slow ? 92% is what I use CC or max continuous for a show
Tip in from 6000 for 750 kph pass @ 100ft, pull vertical, 1 1/2 rolls, humpty,
full roll down, pull to 70' 1 1/2 roll pull down, loop with 45' roll down away
from show centre, pull half Cuban, 1 1/4 roll to go out on other 45 axis, pull
half Cuban and the show goes on............
cheers, mj

In the L-29 its 10 liters per minute, 600 literes 60 minutes. Funny
how that math works out.
Thats at cruise.....double ouch.

Also add an air-compressor to the spares list.

Subject: | Scavenge Problem?? |
G'day all!
Hope you all are enjoying the Holidays. I have an interesting conundrum with that
superior product of Mother Russia, my Yak 52. I changed the oil about a week
ago and flew her for 0.5 with no problems. Next flight was 2 days later and
after another half hour flight (including aeros) I arrived and found the entire
right side of the fuselage covered in oil with oil dripping from the breather.
Oil quantity was down to 5 litres. ( quantity before flight was 10 litres)
I wiped her down and topped her up to 9 litres and took her out for an engine run.
Same thing happened again this time with oil around the front of the engine
as well. I thought initially the crankcase maybe pressurising but after a compression
test the leak rates are all mid to high 70's. There is no smoke coming
from the exhaust and oil pressure is normal at all times.
During trouble shooting we noticed that the oil level in the sump was extremely
high.
About 2.5 litres came out when drained instead of the usual 1litre. Scavenge screen
was clear. We have disconnected the scavenge line and blown air through it
and can hear bubbling in the tank which I suspect rules out a blockage downsteam
of the pump. We have blown air through the pump and oil appears to flow freely
forward out to the front of the sump where the scavenge screen resides.
The gears of the scavenge pump turn as the prop is turned.I guess the next step
is to swap the oil pump and see what happens. I was wondering if anyone might
have come across this problem before because we are running out of ideas. Thanks
in anticipation.
Cheers for now
Egon.

Anybody ever heard of F.U. (Formation University)?
Did my first "fighter wing" (might be called extended trail by RPA guys)
today. Geeze, what a blast. A YAK-50 was in the lead followed by me in the
52, then a CJ and then another two YAK-50's. Is there some way to market
this stuff?

I'm guessing but it may be a bad anti-drain back valve in the oil pump.

Are you getting a lot of oil running out of the exhaust stacks? The entire problem
could be related to the pressure valve in the oil pump. It is behind the
large screw that is used to adjust the oil pressure on the right side of the
oil pump. Be sure the spring which pushes against the valve is not disfigured
in any way and is not broken.

And you did your first fighting wing. Alot more fun than staying in figure tip
for the entire sortie.
