Southeast Pilots:
The Columbus Ga airshow, Thunder in the Valley, has invited redstar pilots to
participate. The dates are March 17,18,19.
I am working on the details, but believe they will offer us gas and hotel rooms.
I should have that info shortly.
Please contact me if you think you would like to attend. They're looking for
at least 6-8 of us for some formation flights.
Thanks,
Jay

As you can see from the picture the fin has been attacked with an angle
grinder. The fin was originally just as long as the ribbed section goes but
the previous owner added an extra 4 inches of rudder, great for knife edge
but not so great for snap rolls as if you puut full boot in the airspeed
dies off real quick. Better to just use about 3/4, but fun however you try
it.

OK, now I really can blame this on the camera. The camera is positioned on
the front dash. The Canopy Arch that you can see in the shot is about 2
inches back down the plane from the lens position. This a REALLY wide angle
camera, maybe 170Deg. In fact if you look closely you can see the wing tips
in the video. (see picture attached.)
So both my heads are at least normal sized, it's a trick of the camera,
honest :))

The infighting for this has been going on for several years. I can assure people
it will make absolutely zero difference to the supply of spare parts for Yak
aircraft - the practicality is that virtually nothing new for Yak 50, Yak 52
and Yak 55 has been made for 10 years!
The new Yak 52s for the Russian Air Force are indeed rebuilt old aircraft - they
themselves are short of spare parts!

In November, I think, I asked if there were those among you who would be
interested in a Polartec type fleece vest with RPA wings embroidered on the left
breast.
I finally have a supplier with a vest I like. Black nylon outer shell to cut
the wind with a black fleece lining and a collar that zips to the top. The
price will be $40 -- $42.
Please get back to me if you're still interested so I can have a sense of how
many to order. Mention the size you want.

Hey Guy,
Need some ideas. Flew out for a burger today. Climbed back into the
old Yak 52 and when I hit the start button, nothing happened. Now Pop of the
Electro pneumatic start valve AND no buzz from the Shower of sparks. Battery
seems good and strong. Checked the ignition switch with a multi meter which
showed the switch as good, even jumped the switch with no luck. Check continuity
of the two round 30 AMP fuses in the fuse box under the dash.
Anyone have past expericenc with this problem. If the shower of sparks is
back will that also keep the start valve from opening. The start valve works
with the foot switch, but I cannot get an advance spark from the shower of
sparks.
Scott.
Cell 940-453-5256.
I plan on changing out the shower of sparks tomorrow at lunch. Any idea
please call or email.

Don't rush to change the boost coil. Since the problem affects both the
boost coil and the air solenoid, I would look at the components that are
common to both first.
