I think doc may be familiar with this material. It covers some topics that have been beaten to death here (nomex and dehydration) and various other topics. For example, why should some pilots avoid licorice? It's all there. It is surprisingly readable: http://www.brooks.af.mil/af/files/fsguide/HTML/00_Index.html Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=15098#15098 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:15:03 AM PST US From: "Valkyre1" Subject: Re: Yak-List: hard starting Thanks Jerry- You've given me some more things to think about on the spark plug kit installation, an entertaining story, and a good laugh. A great way to start the day. ( I suspect your "friend" is a bit more careful these days too.) -Val ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 12:38:41 PM PST US From: "Roger Kemp" Subject: RE: Yak-List: USAF Flight Surgeons Guide - online --> Yak-List message posted by: "Roger Kemp" Scooter, Now the secret's out. doc > [Original Message] > From: Scooter > To: > Date: 2/26/2006 8:48:47 AM > Subject: Yak-List: USAF Flight Surgeons Guide - online > > --> Yak-List message posted by: "Scooter" > > Here's a link that some of you may be interested in. Well one of our own is looking to go but needs time in a YAK 52 before he leaves. Can anyone help out Mr. Robert Armstrong, a US National IAC Champion and Air Tran AIrways, 717 Captain? If so please contact him directly at rba@borf.com Thanks guys I knew we could count on ya! Hello! Me and my friend have been opertaing our Yak during wintertime now, operating the engine below 5 degrees Celsius, even down to -5. STarting the engine really hasn=B4t ben difficult, but have learned that you should not without pre-heating. We have drained for oil every 3 days without a flight, turning 20 blades before priming and another 10. After the last flight at Saturday, we notice some oil dripping out of the exhaust imediatly after shut down.(maybe a teaspoon full) That we didn=B4t like much! How common is this=3F May this be a sign of a minor hydraulic lock, with bent engine parts=3F Please advise, and from only those serius guys! Thanx! H=E5vard N.
