Can you tell me if you use the remote compass or if you are able to use the unit fine without it _____ From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of bpx2horn@aol.com Sent: Monday, December 26, 2005 7:39 PM Subject: Re: Yak-List: EFIS-D10A - Yak 52-TW Yes I have a D10A in my plane and took out the vacume pump. I am very happy with it and its ablity to not get lost unless the acro gets extreme. If it does get lost after some spins or snaps it takes just a few moments to realign after flying straight and level. The best part is there is no moving parts to wear out. Paul Hornick

    Subject: gear warning
A while back there was discussion about gear warning devices. I came across this device on avweb today. It warns of gear up, and acknowledges gear down. It also warns of overspeed and stall. It can also drive a Hobbs meter. Kinda cool, at $1295, a little pricey. _http://www.p2inc.com/audioadvisory.asp_ (http://www.p2inc.com/audioadvisory.asp)

Subject: Yak 55 Canopy Bungees and Cables
Hi All, I have been flying my new (to me) Yak 55M for about a month now, and love it. It has been a very straightforward transition from the Su29, and frankly, surprisingly comparable in terms of performance (don't tell the Sukh drivers...). I have found little to be concerned about with the airplane, but do have two very minor squawks about the airframe. First off, the bungee that retracts the canopy is "un-bunged", i.e., it is stretched out to the point where the cable hangs loosely when the canopy is fully open. I would like to replace this, and recognise that this will require pulling the seat back out, and climbing back there to try get at the bungee. However, before I begin, I was wondering if any of you with more expertise than I would know WHAT kind of bungee I need, or the particulars of it's fabrication (length, number of cords, method of attachment...) (ideally, I only want to crawl back there once...), or if any special tools are required. The maintenance books which I have are silent on this subject (or maybe that is in the Russian ones that I can't read...). Second, the cable which actuates the canopy latch (and which runs in the front bow from the little knob hanging from the top of the bow down to the pin on the starboard side) is starting to fray at the pull-knob. I would like to replace it before it brakes. It looks like standard control cabling material, but I can't see the fittings (since they are inside the bow) and can't tell what would be involved in a) removal/replacement, and b) how the cable attached to the fittings. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks, Scott Yak 55M N155YK

    Subject: GNS430 w/ GS
--> Yak-List message posted by: "Shinden33" <shinden33@earthlink.net> Anyone have experience with a GNS430 with GS in a Yak or otherwise. I want to update my Yak so I can keep IFR current. Replacing the Russian Com (as much as I hate to) and clock with a 430 connected to a VOR/LOC/GS indicator seems too be a space saving way to do so. Scott
