I came across this device on avweb today. It warns of gear up, and acknowledges gear down. It also warns of overspeed and stall. It can also drive a Hobbs meter. Kinda cool, at $1295, a little pricey. http://www.p2inc.com/audioadvisory.asp ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 12:53:38 AM PST US From: Drew Blahnick Subject: Yak-List: RPA Regional Board of Directors Elections RPA members, This week, region by region, email "voter ballots" will be sent out listing the previously nominated candidates. This election window lasts 30 days; if you vote and then receive another email ballot for your region, simply disregard, as long as you recieved your voter confirmation email, your choice is logged. The ballots will have the candidates name and email, if you don't know them, email them and they will send you a short BIO. Fits perfect in the clock panel cut out. Will have to rout out the whole 2-3 mm. Also convert the hard case on the quick clip wiring harness to a soft bundle. The hard case does not have the clearance in the back to not rub on the huge wiring bundle for the panel instruments that comes left to right on the left side of the panel. Did install a Garmin 396 for moving map and weather. So did not sacrafice the Russian radio as a result. You may want to call Cliff for advise if you're going to do it yourself. www.gesoco.com Scott ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Scott Poehlmann" Subject: Yak-List: Yak 55 Canopy Bungees and Cables Hi All, I have been flying my new (to me) Yak 55M for about a month now, and love it. It has been a very straightforward transition from the Su29, and frankly, surprisingly comparable in terms of performance (don't tell the Sukh drivers...). I have found little to be concerned about with the airplane, but do have two very minor squawks about the airframe. First off, the bungee that retracts the canopy is "un-bunged", i.e., it is stretched out to the point where the cable hangs loosely when the canopy is fully open. I would like to replace this, and recognise that this will require pulling the seat back out, and climbing back there to try get at the bungee. However, before I begin, I was wondering if any of you with more expertise than I would know WHAT kind of bungee I need, or the particulars of it's fabrication (length, number of cords, method of attachment...) (ideally, I only want to crawl back there once...), or if any special tools are required. The maintenance books which I have are silent on this subject (or maybe that is in the Russian ones that I can't read...). Second, the cable which actuates the canopy latch (and which runs in the front bow from the little knob hanging from the top of the bow down to the pin on the starboard side) is starting to fray at the pull-knob. I would like to replace it before it brakes. It looks like standard control cabling material, but I can't see the fittings (since they are inside the bow) and can't tell what would be involved in a) removal/replacement, and b) how the cable attached to the fittings. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks, Scott Yak 55M N155YK ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 08:02:43 AM PST US From: SWP013@aol.com Subject: Yak-List: N444YK Stock Yak-52 N444YK is for sale. It works fine for my YAK-52. Has a 6 hp engine that moves the plane along just fine. The hand controlled clutch will stop it on a dime. The rest of my hanger mates will attest to it's ease of use also. Dennis Savarese for one.
