Smash,
That sucks! I just saw the "non-tornado" on CNN. They called it something else.
Regardless, the same damage was done.
You may be able to get her flying again.

03-041 Stuck Canopy
TSgt Robinson 1st MXG/MXQ
* On 10 April 06 at approximately 0815 aircraft 03-041 had a Red Ball
for a canopy unlock indication. Attempts to clear the problems by
cycling the canopy failed. The final cycling of the canopy resulted in
it being in the down and locked position. The canopy would not cycle up
form this position trapping the pilot in the cockpit. The aircraft
subsequently ground aborted.
* Attempts to manually open the canopy were unsuccessful
* 27th AMU consulted Lockheed Martin and the F-22A System Program Office
to determine alternate methods to open the canopy and extract the pilot
* After all maintenance options were exhausted, the canopy was cut by
fire department personnel and the pilot was extracted at approximately
1315
* Trouble-shooting of the aircraft is in work
* Canopy replacement cost is $182,205

Martin,
The canopy could not be opened. For a number of reasons.
Have seen that up
close and personal in the Viper.

No doubt a 50 cent washer was the cause :-)

It wouldn't lock for a mission so they opened it and tried again. Several
times. Then it wouldn't open and they cut the pilot out after 5 hours of
messing with it. The price is from the Air Force story.

I am really sorry about your plane. I watched the live video as the tornado crossed
your airport from Tulsa. It was amazing that anything was left standing.
it was really creepy when they revised the report and said it was not farm buildings
but hangars being destroyed. I knew that some valuable planes were destroyed.
Come to Tulsa and you can play with us.

Well, most of you probably saw the tornado that ravished El Reno, OK tonight.
The pretty red white and blue a/c you see from the video being thrust out of
his hangar. Well, it's awful, it will undoubtably be a total loss. Here are
some pics, hope they come through.
Canopy broken, left wing ripped open, rudder and elevator damage, prop destroyed,
and tail wheel ripped off...UGH

Well, I had the fire marshall take 4 pics last night that I posted and that gave
me a warm fuzzy that MAYBE he would fly again, but after I took these pics today,
there is no way it will be cost efficient enough to rebuild him. Take a
look for yourself and let me know what you think.

The tornado must have mistaken the hangars for a trailer park.

Well, if you look at the link that one of the boys sent, you will see me talking
about Claremore competition....so I *was* planning on coming up there. I still
might. One of my buddies offered me to fly in his Extra 300L, so it's still
possible that I can make it. Will you be competing in it?

Hahahaha...ya know Eugene, I have been thinking the same thing. I told Lloyd Stoops
tonight that I have been "red-neck-ti-fied" I have been tore up by a twister!
:)
So sad, so true, so truly unbelievable!

Okay, since this concerns me...I understand his frustration, you go to this link
and it brings you to the most update video, not his fault, if you seriously
have some interest in making fun of me, or seeing me stroke my baby....
steady boys....
you have to click on the video dated 25 april, entitled "Twister Damage Surveyed"
Anyhoo...don't need a lot of comments on how stupid I sound....imagine losing
your child and how smart you would sound when they interviewed you...UGH
