=EF=BF=BC Dearest Red Star Renegades, If you are planning to come to ARS, have not yet registered, and would like to choose between steak and salmon for the banquet dinner, =20= we need to have you registered by 5 p.m. local today. The caterer said he'd "whip up sumpin' special" for those who don't....and he has =20= a sense of humor. ;) Sooo, if you're planning to attend but just haven't made your way to www.allredstar.com to do so, now would be the time.... Cheers, Barry Barry Hancock Event Director All Red Star (949) 300-5510 www.allredstar.com "A Unique Aviation Experience"

No, I fly light acro in my CJ. I suspect Guy Baldwin will be competing in his Extra. The Claremore acro box is very convenient from here. Well, if you look at the link that one of the boys sent, you will see me talking about Claremore competition....so I *was* planning on coming up there. I still might. One of my buddies offered me to fly in his Extra 300L, so it's still possible that I can make it. Will you be competing in it? Jim Griffin <jgriffint28@cox.net> wrote: Sarah I am really sorry about your plane. I watched the live video as the tornado crossed your airport from Tulsa. It was amazing that anything was left standing. it was really creepy when they revised the report and said it was not farm buildings but hangars being destroyed. I knew that some valuable planes were destroyed. Come to Tulsa and you can play with us. Well, most of you probably saw the tornado that ravished El Reno, OK tonight. The pretty red white and blue a/c you see from the video being thrust out of his hangar. Well, it's awful, it will undoubtably be a total loss. Here are some pics, hope they come through. Canopy broken, left wing ripped open, rudder and elevator damage, prop destroyed, and tail wheel ripped off...UGH smash - Great rates starting at 1=A2/min. - - - - ----- rates.

Hi Smash, I think your assessment of the damage to your airplane is on the mark. If you think about it for a bit you really don't know the G loads the plane took in this environment. If you have rivets that were partially sheared and returned to the originally position how do know . Can you measure this damage? Same for metal fatigue and over stress of areas that do not appear to be damaged This aircraft could be returned to flying condition, however , would you want to pull rated G forces on it ? Probably not. Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think. Smash ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----

Does anyone sell, or have plans for, a V530 spanner wrench? I need a hefty one. One of my blades is seized up due to dried grease and rust (hopefully not too much) and the retainer is really, really hard to turn. Preston Carter Yak-52, N6209F

If the spar isn't damaged then the skin can be replaced. It looked like a lot of the damage was holes in the control surface fabric. After it is stripped, then you can check the underlying structure. Holes punched in the skin will not effect the strength. Any underlying structure can be fixed. Dye Check for cracks if you worry. Have a good mechanic look it over. Had a friend that flew a single place YAK thru a power line. After it was repaired and the prop replaced, it was good as new and he demonstrated it frequently. Even wings can be replaced if necessary. Canopy is not structural.
