Thanks to all who sent info about my previous post on paint shop blues. I cut a
handshake deal today that is a lot more doable at a shop right on my home field.
An epoxy self-etching primer, sanded and then followed by 3 coats of Acry-Glo.
Stars and Bars to follow with buzz numbers. I prep the dents, pull it apart
and put it back together.
The key was that I approached with an "experimental" and not a Warbird. "Warbird"
sounds like pure gold to paint shops accustomed to really Big Boys bringing
their P-51's in for the works.
The catch is that I have to wait for the "off season"; that's a Florida euphemism
for August/September. Kinda like the swamp in my backyard that is called a
"conservation area".
