What I have seen also is a little 6 mm screw with an o-ring underneath it in
the cap of the tank. When the Yak is parked in the hangar you just remove
the screw and you have no pressure built up in the tank anymore. Put a
"remove before flight" sign on it and also take it up in the external
checklist and you will not forget to put the screws back in again before
flight.

Scooter,
Sounds like a case of vaporizaion and venting. If you are going to top off
your tanks and then put it up in a warm hanger, the YAK is notorious for
venting fuel. Two choices, uncap you tanks to break the seal. Obviously
leave the fuel caps on the mouth of the tank but loose where it will vent.
Another way to remind yourself the you fuel caps are loose is to take the
cover off the wing and turn it 90 degrees out.
The other choice you have is to not top off your tanks when you put it up.
That is assuming you have the standard Russian fuel tanks with the tank
covers (? for lack of anything else to call them?).

hangar today and smelled fuel before i opened it. Turns out i had a puddle
of fuel on the ground under the center "vent". It had come from the left
tank and when i opened the cap i could hear the pressure release (vacuum
inside). Seems like I lost possibly a gallon or two. Any ideas? The
tanks were almost topped off when i put it away last week.

Thanks everyone for the advice on the fuel siphoning. Good to know it's normal.
I've also enjoyed all the video.

I made one out of a sheet of soft tyvek. It was relatively easy. I cut a rectangle
that fit the canopy. Cut the front in two places and the rear down the
middle (for the bends). Sewed everything together and put some plastic grommets
in with some bungee cords and rope.

Hi guys,
It breaks my heart but I have to part with my yakker. I bought a Seneca
Three and have to part with the real plane.
It is a 1986 yak 52 and is in excellent shape. It is located in Jefferson
City, Missouri (JEF).
My email address is _peteabbott@aol.com_ (mailto:peteabbott@aol.com)

Subject: | ARS Formation Challenge Perpetual Trophy |
Gentlemen:
In the course of the year until the next ARS, hopefully again at lovely
Porterville, we will be designing and creating an ARS Formation Challenge Perpetual
Trophy. The sort that has a large base on which are mounted small plaques
with the names of the champions each year. Immortality!
To that end, I need your assistance. Self-absorbed as I am, I can't recall
the names of the prior winning teams nor the names and call signs of their
individual members. So, if you were a part of a victorious 4-ship, please send
me
the name of your team and those of your wingmen. We want the names of
previous winners already mounted on the trophy when it is presented to the new
champions in 2007
Many thanks, Blitz
