--> Yak-List message posted by: Brandon Tucker <btucke73@yahoo.com> Frank, Good question. The professional printer I bought costs about $600 new. The paper that I use ranges from $1 a sheet for Matte, to over $2 a sheet for glossy. I have already spent over $200 in print cartridges. The cylinders I use to ship run $3 each, and the slowest shipping option to a location only 400 miles away was $4. I just shipped 9 prints to the Virgin Islands. That shipping was $8. It took me about 3 hours to perform the photo shop touch-ups / color adjustments, and to print them. Also, they are not $20 each - only for the first (including shipping, not plus shipping). I am only asking him for $80 for his 9 prints. (some were only 6x8). The only reason that I offered this service is because Ray asked my permission a couple of months ago to have prints made of the pictures that I took, and I think he paid 3 or 4 times the amount, without any shippng involved. I figure that if I sell a several hundred prints, I might actually cover my costs. So far I have sold 11. The first two I exchanged for 3 cold delicious beers. If you ask anyone who attended Desert Thunder II, where I had cold beer (that came out of my pocket) waiting at my trailer on the flight line upon arrival - or anyone who attended ARS, where I volunteered 14+ hours a day - they will tell you that I am not in this to make money. I do it because I love being around these amazing airplanes, the scent of 100LL, the low frequency rumble of a radial, and the gathering of some of the best aviators I have had the pleasure of flying with. Besides, the military pays me such a huge sum that I am already rich... Respectfully, Brandon Tucker "GED" DO NOT ARCHIVE __________________________________________________

--> Yak-List message posted by: Roger Baker <f4ffm2@adelphia.net> Frank, Your message complaining about Brandon's price for a photo print struck me as very inappropriate. He went to the trouble (at his own expense) to be where there were pictures to be taken, he invested A LOT in his camera equipment, he went to the trouble of creating a web page so everybody could see the pictures in the first place, he invested in a very high quality printer, goes to the trouble of maintaining supplies for the printer, uses his valuable time to make the prints (and correspond with those that want them); then has to go to the trouble of getting mailing supplies...and then has to go to the post office to mail them (I would pay $20 just to not to have to go to the post office). I find it amazing that you, who probably has no real interest in these photos as a subject of or buyer of them, come along in a public forum and whine about the price. If you find the price offensive, you can simply flippen not buy one of these prints. I don't see where it's any of your business what Brandon charges for his prints. Roger Baker ________________________________________________________________________ _______________ Time: 06:22:45 PM PST US --> Yak-List message posted by: "Frank Haertlein" <yak52driver@earthlink.net> Brandon 20 bucks per print from an Epson printer plus shipping costs seems high. Why so much for a single print? Frank Brandon wrote................ Gents, I have had a few inquiries about photos from ARS 2006....... If anyone wants prints, let me know. They will be $20 each including shipping, and $10 for each additional print that I can fit in the tube. Just look at this website:

--> Yak-List message posted by: "Frank Haertlein" <yak52driver@earthlink.net> Roger I've gone to the trouble to provide all kinds of information (pictures, maintenance tips, etc) and never charged a thing for them. I've done this for the benefit of the list since it's inception. That's what makes this list great. I did my part for the benefit of the list and so have many others........free of charge. For example, I may have relevant safety issues with our planes that can save your life. Do you think I should charge for them because of the effort I went through to learn about them? Isn't that information 10 times more valuable than some pictures? Well, then, why did I give it away for free? Makes $20 pictures sound a little self serving......doesn't it? Maybe we should all charge to impart our knowledge? I don't mind a reasonable charge but $20 per pic is too much. Sorry, your argument rings hollow. Take a hike! Turns out the oil return line coming from sensors to left side of oil tank and a oil/air separator line that runs behind it were hard up against each other. So hard in fact that the oil/air line had worn through the oil line creating a hole in the oil line about 3/4" to 1" long. Frank

--> Yak-List message posted by: Brandon Tucker <btucke73@yahoo.com> Gents, I retract the original offer. It never dawned on me that it would cause such issues. My pictures are still up on the website in full resolution to do with as you please, which I apparently did for my own amusement and personal enrichment. My apologies to everyone who wasted time reading about my price gouging. I will make myself scarce for a while. Frank, I look forward to meeting you at an ARS event in the future. I'll be the young one with a camera and a smile. Please let me know if there are any prints you would like - free of charge. Respectfully, Brandon Tucker GED __________________________________________________
