Gena I know the Russian's designed and the Romanians built one of the best
planes I've ever flown the Yak 52 and as far as how well they are built I
helped rebuild a 1983 52 that was landed on its nose causing damage to the
forward underbelly we had a derelict fuselage for parts a 1982 and once all
the celecos were in all the holes lined up perfect, I was amazed! kudos to
the Builders and designers.

Sounds like your gear is either toed-in or toed-out. Sometimes this is corrected
via a shim between the wheel and the gear. I've bought these for Cessna gear
and they sell for ungodly amounts of money - $100 per pair for used shims.
From my experience with Cessna spring gear you can push the aircraft forward
or backward and see the gear either spreading or coming together.
Where are your tires wearing? Inside or outside? This will tell you if it's toe-out
or in. I think they wear on the outside for toe-in and inside for toe-out
(someone correct me if i'm wrong).

which by my calculation is ~42psi, max 49psi. However, the new Desser 6 ply
sidewall data says to inflate to a maximum of 30 psi. There is no inflation
data on the sidewall of the retreads. Is this because Russian tires are 4-plyI
tried Desser for an answer and they dont know.
4) Tail wheel pressureThis airplane has a 200x80 tailwheel with a tube, and
the Russian manuals are absolutely silent about inflation pressure. Cant find
any data for a 200x80, but 30 psi seems to be about rightwhat are the rest
of you folks using ?
OPERATING LIMITATIONS
1) The markings for operating limitations on all the instruments are falling
off and need replacement, which I thought would be straight forwardnot so.
The FARs are clear with respect to the airspeed indicator (redline, yellow arc
and green arc, etc.), but totally ambiguous wrt to the other instrumentation.
After looking at 7~8 cockpit photos of YAK-55s, YAK-52s, and a bunch of Sukhios
one thing is clearno two are alike in the way the operating limits are marked.
Anybody want to venture an opinion as to how to properly mark the Oil Temp, Oil
Pressure, Fuel Pressure, and Cyl Hd Temp., Etc or is this totally my choice under
Experimental Exhibition ?

Im looking for suggestions , best way to run strobe/nav light wire
through the wings of the YAK 52. The wings are currently off. Is it
best to put into a flexible nylon tube and run in leading edge area, or
try to fish down center until reaching the gear area? I really need a
good suggestion. Also, best location to tap into electrical power for a
avionics buss? thanks

3) Airplane tires have a maximum rated weight and a maximum rated
pressure. Get some graph paper and scale it appropriately, then draw a
straight line from the point of max weight, max pressure to 0/0. Find
your plane's weight on the graph to see what your correct tire pressure.

I have seen several versions of the clean kit to include Les Crowder's
original version, the prototype of which was on my 50. I think I have
seen Kevin's version too, but I am not totally sure. All of them used
an electric pump to pump the oil out of the lower sump and back into the
main oil tank. Les Crowder's version also used special valve covers
with rubber hoses that allowed all the oil in the valve covers to flow
back down into the sump as well. All of these systems worked extremely
well, but Les Crowder's version added so many hoses and clamps that it
just scared the "B'Jesus" out of me due to the possibility of a clamp
letting go and oil going everywhere.....on the bottom of the aircraft
where I could not see.
That said, Kevin's oil shut off valve is the one real answer that works
like a dream. I do not have it on my aircraft but I have seen it on
three others with M-14's and it is the "real deal". This valve is
installed just downstream on the main oil feed. Shutting it off
directly after flight means that NO oil is going to run down into the
engine through the oil pump ball check valve, and NO oil is going to end
up causing a hyd. lock on your lower cylinders.
If you also scavenge your engine properly before shutdown, it is my
opinion that you can also live without the electric oil scavenge pump
itself, but I would defer to more expert opinions in that regard.
Again, the oil tank shutoff valve is the real solution, but of course it
comes with a danger. If you forget to turn it on before starting... Bye
bye engine. Kevin's valve has a built in electric interrupt switch that
you can use to interrupt your start system, but nothing is foolproof.
I am not sure if Kevin's system includes the hose fittings or not....
But regardless his system is the one I would want.

I just shot an email out looking for some info on the setup out to your company
email address. Just looking for an idea of how it works, issues (such as those
Mark mentioned..specifically failures), ease of installation, things of that
nature.
I know it may be another point of failure but I am willing to take a closer look.
