> FAA TO ESTABLISH TFR OVER BIRMINGHAM ON THURSDAY
> AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near Birmingham,
> Alabama, that the FAA has issued a notam restricting flight in the
> area during President Bush's planned visit on Thursday, September 28.
>
> There will be a large 30-nautical-mile-radius temporary flight
> restriction (TFR) centered on the VUZ VOR's 166-degree radial at 14.1
> miles, extending up to Flight Level 180. It will be in effect from
> 10:05 a.m. local until 2:30 p.m. local on Thursday. Also, there will
> be multiple smaller 10-nm-radius GA no-fly zones in effect within
> the larger TFR during that timeframe. See AOPA Online for the full
> text of the notam along with a graphical depiction
> ( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html#6/1206 ).
>
> The affected landing facilities are Bessemer (EKY), Birmingham
> International (BHM), Shelby County (EET), and St. Clair County (PLR).
>
> Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages
> pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight.
> TFR violators will be intercepted and forced to land.
