Subject: | YAK 52Tw - 2007 proposals |
The internet is a very good means of spreading the word however the
management at Aerostar are all ex party cronies (or were ) none or very few
understood/ spoke English.
So unfortunately what's said here falls on deaf ears.
Christian is an exception and tries very hard but his hands really are tied
from above. Top management not understanding English (communist attitude)
will not get the message at all about why they are failing as a company.
Then think of the poor worker (I have seen on many occasions) who are out of
work as a result of the "cronyism" I don't know if they had an "attitude"
towards George but it must have sunk in now that he was the best man they
have ever meet WRT YAK 52 production.
Prices, when the USD has gone from 0.86 Euro to $ and is now 1.32 that's a
fall of 50% just down to the USA economy as seen on the world markets. Its
not aerostar price rises at all. Being a Euro country they should price in
Euros but I know from experience that buyers like to have quotes in there
own currency so you got it !
If every worker (ex) knew why there out of a job management would be shot
for sure. This company just does not want to be dragged to the free market,
it does not listen. In 1993 onwards I banged into them to certify the a/c
and open world markets. Even to this day they still don't have a design
approved office according to EASA requirements. Christian, please correct me
and advise the company approvals held. If you have a design office I have
work for you. Certifying and building the YAK 52TD wings, we cant make these
fast enough and at this time UK CAA want a full EASA design office approval
for this mod on an experimental a/c. So we just sell in Europe instead of UK
at present. UK has lots of 52's to convert.

Re: YAK 52 TW - 2007 proposals
MessageIra hit it right on the money. Aerostar, at least in the past,
just didn't get it. My first sales manager many, many years ago told
me
two things that has stuck with me over the years. First, "Nothing
happens until somebody sells something" and "The selling starts AFTER
you get the order." Now that may not make sense to some, but in
Aerostar terms it represents precisely what Aerostar has not done.
And
that is, support their product AND most importantly, their dealers the
way they should be before, during and AFTER the sale. Aerostar lost
the
best possible US dealer they could have ever have. GESOCO. Gesoco
was
dedicated to the product, had the technical expertise to provide
feedback on the product and the capability to support the product,
100%,
before, during and AFTER the sale. But Aerostar dropped the ball. No
offense Harvey Meek. But George Coy's team was the key to the Yak 52W
and TW products success or failure in the largest market in the world,
the U.S.
Anyone who spends $170K or $285K (doesn't really matter which) expects
to be able to take their airplane to their dealer or designated repair
shop, get their airplane fixed under warranty and not have to wait 2-3
months for the original manufacture to "decide" whether the repair
will
be covered by the warranty or not. (ie: Pompous attitude - "We made
it
so it can't be defective.") You wouldn't expect that kind of
post-sale
support on your Ferrari or other expensive sports car and you damn
sure
don't expect that kind of service from your new airplane manufacture.
Poor product support equals lost sales and lost sales equals shutting
down the product line. With the global communication capability of
the
internet, poor product support is catastrophic....as evidence of the
number of 52TW's sold over the last 18-24 months in the U.S. compared
to
2000 thru 2004.

For you folks that are anxiously awaiting your RPA FAST cards here's an update:
I spoke to the card vendor again yesterday and the cards have all been printed
except for the names and expiration dates. They should be completed and in the
mail by Friday. If you were FAST current in 2006 I had a card made up for you.
All the folks that are current for 2007 will be receiving the cards in the
mail next week. It should have an RPA return address but in case it doesn't
check the envelope before tossing it in the trash.
If you were current in 2006 but still need to turn in paperwork or renew your membership
your card will come to me and I'll send it along when the paperwork
is squared away.

Subject: | Cowling T-Slot Bushings and all the other bits |
I find it ironic that on the digest today, there are a bunch of posts about
the new TW at $285k, with resultant posts talking about support issues,
picking the right dealer in the US to market and support the Yaks, etc etc
etc.
Then along comes the last post in the digest about bushings for the cowl.
Preston asks where can he find said bushings, talks about making parts,
refers to assumptions about how it was mounted, says he has seen lots of
other yaks with the same problem, maybe making lots of parts and so.
I find this incredibly ironic, because it illustrates the problem and
confirms there is no product support.
1. Why not simply get them from Aerostar / US representative?
2. If this is a common problem, and with the levels of vibration coupled
with the need to remove and put back on cowl on a frequent basis, why isn't
Aerostar getting this feedback, taking the initiative, and producing a "cowl
mount overhaul kit"?
Hell lets not stop there. How about...
3. Ditto "aileron bearing replacement kit", "undercarriage bush replacement
kit", "brake cable replacement kit", "undercarriage actuator overhaul kit",
"Trim system overhaul kit", etc etc.
I bet every long time Yak owner on this list could specify the contents of
these kits and many others.
Guaranteed what question does any prospective Yak buyer ask: Are spares
available?
Christian, I offer these thoughts for your consideration, because I really
want Aerostar to be successful.
Lets see if any Yak owners on the list agree with me or think I am smoking
something?

As M-14P prices rise with the Euro v. USD, I wonder how a Chevy V-8 would perform
under a custom cowl, pulling along a CJ behing an MT prop? Prices are as cheap
as M-14P's were a few years ago, even with a reduction drive. Weight is in
the ballpark, just the Sound of Round is replaced with the wail of an LS-7 426
HP Chevy winding up.
Wouldn't help a Yak though; perhaps John Deere has something appropriate :>)

The M-14P is a very inexpensive power plant! I don't know of any radial
engine that sells for less than the M-14P. Come to think of it. I don't
think there is a 360 horsepower aircraft engine that sells for less. Why
fool around with a know winner that is a hell of a value?
M-14ps, Collect'm Trade'm!

Don't need any help. It came with a strong engine and we did not have to change
out a 260 to get it! Now if you want real performance saddle up a YAK-50. The
50 will fly circles around that M-14 equiped CJ on just 10 gal/hour! So, bring
that super CJ and come turn with us (50 drivers).
