The Yak 50 9 lts bottle is like finding hens teeth. We fitted a Y52 11lts once to the front fuselage side in the hell hole. Not a real satisfactory solution as the rivets are prone to working. If CJ use a 9 lts bottle use it !. Did anyone fit a bottle from here yet? http://www.scicomposites.com/ not beyond the wit of man to make a bracket in the battery bay area, simpler installation than a sphere, less pipe needed, no corrosion must be an advantage. Some talk about this approx 3 yrs ago I recall. Cheers, mj Time: 10:13:20 AM PST US Subject: Yak-52/50 Air Bottle From: "Tim Gagnon" I am looking for a primary bottle for my Yak-50. I think I might be able to use a Yak-52 emergency bottle. The -50's bottle are 6 liter (primary) and 3 liter (emer). Anyone know of a source for these? Thanks in advance. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 12:34:13 AM PST US From: "Rob Kent - WLAC Russian Engineering" Subject: Re: Yak-List: Re: Yak-52/50 Air Bottle Tim, The emergency CJ6 cylinder is spherical and appears to be the same as the Yk-52. The CJ6 main cylinder is elongated, more like a small dive bottle in shape. This is unlike the Yak-52 which has spherical 12 litre main bottles or the 50 with it's spherical 6 litre main bottle. From: "Tim Gagnon" Some of theses bottles are a bit pricey as there are not many on the market. I know there are some new made but only a few options are available. If I were to pursue having some bottles/tanks custom made, how many folks would be interested in having a set as spares or as replacements? I have replaced one bottle on my airplane and need to replace the other one. We have all seen what happens when one of these things go. I would guess if you are in the back seat of a -52 when the main explodes, you are either going to be killed or seriously hurt by shrapnel. Thats if the tail empennage stays on the airplane. I will pursue this if there is enough interest and will forfeit my bottles for the project. I will also need the two bottles from a Yak-52. Interest?? Tim, I have already taken the liberty of making contact with a manufacturer and will keep the group informed as things progress. If you would like to pursue it as well, I have no problem with that. The main tank for the CJ is different from that of the 52's as I understand.
