Haven't really looked at the Yak List before and while doing so today came across this thread and noted the comments about the Radial Rocket. The factory prototype was not sold. As the OSH and SNF 2007 approached they ran out of time to build a new demo and pulled the prototype off the market. The factory in addition to a straight kit and quickbuild now offers what they call a roller and super roller. The rolleris basically the fuselage and wing structurally complete, mated and onthe landing gear. This would put you about 6 months from 1st flight and the super roller is all composite work complete with the plane ready foor sand, prime FWF and systems. The current kit price is $52,550 Fast build is $66,475 Roller $116,250 Super Roller $135,250 If you build from a kit I estimate for a basic VFR aircraft you can be in the air for about $155,000 out of pocket. I have about 2100 man hours in mine but bear in mind I have never built anything before and the learning curve, for me, was horrendous These are not yet advertised on their website but if interested give them a call. I just completed, late last year, the second flying Radial Rocket with the PF powerplant. I get 205Knots TAS at 14.5GPH. Re the landing gear I looked at this at great length and the speed benefit just wasn't there to justify the extra weight, cost, and insurance expense. Re parts and service. From the airframes standpoint there isn't any component you couldn't fabricate or repair yourself in a well equipped RV builders shop. Once you have the kit you really do not need the factory which given the history of most kit manufacturers was important to me. The factory website is You can see photos of mine at just watch the homepage slideshow. You can download a performance spreadsheet at by going to the radial rocket or m14 forum on this site. -------- Milt 2003 F1 Rocket 2006 Radial Rocket Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have made a difference to the world, but the Marines dont have that problem. - Ronald Reagan Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=101945#101945

Jim Count me in to help. My wife comes to OSH every year and you can count her in on any ground ops Rob Mortara _____ From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of cjpilot710@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2007 12:11 AM Subject: Yak-List: OSH 2008 Committee Time is a wasting. We need to get the committee for the 2008 CJ-6 50th anniversary up and running. So far I have 2 people for a possible 10 + man committee. Positions ; Flight Operations Officer + helper Special Flight Operation Officer. Ground Operations Officer + helper Finance Officer Public Affairs Officer Activities and Do-dad Officer + helper Plus whatever I haven't thought of + helper. Every organization has an event in its history that marks and legitimizes its existence. This is that watershed event for our organization. On my "hero wall" in my den are pictures of the first 4 or 5 guys who flew that first time at OSH, when we were just a club. Some have "gone West" and some still make that OSH pilgrimage each year. We've seen the numbers grow slowly to a steady 25 to 30 aircraft. To legitimately enter that 50th anniversary category, and "come of age" so to speak, we need to put 50 CJ-6s over that airfield. And we need to plan an event that no self respecting CJ-6 pilot will dare miss. Plus we want our Yak brothers to not want to miss the spectacle either. That will legitimatize us as pilots who made the right choice to buy, fly, and love our machines. "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here and hold their manhood cheap while we speak of this day-" Shakespeare's Henry V Some of the honchos at EAAWB have already let me know they are all for us and awaiting our plans. We have some ideas afoot but only a committee can hash out the realities and either discard them or punch them through. Give me a call (386-559-1942 cell or 386-467-3313) or e-mail cjpilot710@aol.com. I need the help. Jim "Pappy" Goolsby _____ AOL now offers free email to everyone. I think it also is a parts price issue. Some of the cost for the items for an uncertified airplane are astronomical! One nice thing about the FAA rules here in the states is that we can make most of the parts! Since I cannot find a replacement for my main bottle, one will be made that will ultimately be better AND cheaper. I think the folks across the pond in the FSU underestimate our ability to adapt and overcome. They may price themselves out of business. I was recently sent pictures of what is arguably the nicest piston powered Yak in the world! What makes it nicer is that it is a Yak-50. The air system on the airplane is totally new and is a work of art. Very little of the original equipment was left. Shows what some ingenuity can accomplish. The rest of the airplane is equally stunning. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=102000#102000
