Subject: | FW: FESTIVAL R40S - light sport aircraft |
To : YAK community
Dear Friends ,
The present message is not direct connected with YAK 52 world but we
think maybe some of you or some of your friends could be interested .
We are pleased to put under your attention one new aircraft we produce
, a Light Sport Aircraft ( LSA ) model , FESTIVAL R40S . The aircraft
is certified in USA by FAA .
FESTIVAL R40S sport is a metal , " low-wings " , nose gear , Light
Sport Aircraft ( LSA ) trainer , designed according to the ASTM
American standards No. F 2339-04 . The aircraft is strong built , its
construction being in the line of the YAK 52 experience .
FESTIVAL R40S is an aircraft perfect suitable for :
* basic flight instruction,
* aircraft rental ,
* air clubs use ,
* individual & family leisure flying ,
* glider towing ,
FESTIVAL R40S is equipped with one ROTAX 912 ULS piston engine ( 100 HP
) , driving a three-blades ground - adjustable WOODCOMP propeller. All
avionics, instruments and equipment are of USA origin.
FESTIVAL base price is $75,500.00 for the standard aircraft
configuration .
The price is valid for US East Coast delivery ( AEROSTAR dealer
location ) . Included : Packing ; Shipment in US ; Assembling & tests
; Ready to fly delivery from the East Coast . Not included : US sales &
local taxes ; FAA registration fees ; Transport to your headquarters .
Some of the main advantages offered by FESTIVAL :
* Price Affordability
FESTIVAL R40S is around $ 15,000.00 - 20,000.00 less than the majority
of its direct competitors. Including maybe Cessna LSA !
* Small operating cost
The engine consumes 4,5 gallons / hour MOGAS ( average consumption ).
Engine TBO is 1 500 hours ( 9 000 $ / overhaul ) . The servicing & parts
at every 100 hours are up to $ 600 .00 . The direct operating cost is $
27,60 , a very competitive value for LSA .
* Safe flight stability
Compared with other LSA models , FESTIVAL has increased some vital
dimensions ( wing span , wings surface , wing profile ) . The aircraft
bigger external dimensions have conduct to obtain for FESTIVAL a
tremendous stability in flight .
FESTIVAL is a " forgiven aircraft " , the inexperienced pilots
appreciating this fact .
FESTIVAL cannot spin if the pilot doesn't want that . The aircraft
recovers itself from spinning , without effort from the pilot .
Due its very good flight stability , FESTIVAL can support easily up
to 15 - 18 m/s front wind speed and 7-10 m/s cross wind speed , the
speeds being bigger as the pilot ability is bigger !
The bigger wings surface makes FESTIVAL to glide very good . Is not
necessary to have a BRS chute .
FESTIVAL is " easy to fly " aircraft , being equipped with double
flight controls & double sticks , each pilot having easy access to the
cockpit equipments
* Robust construction
FESTIVAL is a metal aircraft , a " real aircraft construction "
through many fragile LSA models offered now on the market . Many owners
are considering FESTIVAL as a " work horse " , able to make money for
them .
FESTIVAL can operate during an intensive flight program , its strong
construction make it able to fly hundreds flight hours every year .
FESTIVAL can operate not only on the paved runways . Its strong landing
gear make it operable easily on the unpaved runways , this fact making
it suitable to be used also by the smaller airports & smaller flight
schools . The aircraft needs short take-off & landing distances , a
short runway being necessary .
FESTIVAL can easy make small aerobatics figures ( spinning ) . Not many
LSA models ca offer now this capability !
The pilots are protected into the cockpit like into a " cage " , the
canopy having built a " roll bar " against to dangerous situation .
FESTIVAL is stress tested for + 4 / - 2 g limits up to 1,440.00 lbs ,
the full weight accepted by the LSA standards ( ASTM ) . The ultimate G
limits are + 6 / - 3 g at this weight .
* Spacious & comfortable
FESTIVAL cockpit is 46.50 ft wide , two " generous " persons being able
to entry& stay comfortable inside . The entry and exit are easy , the
roll-bar helping a lot .
The seats are both adjustable ( back and front ) on metal rails ,
FESTIVAL accepting pilots up to 80.00 ft height .
A very useful & spacious luggage compartment is located behind the two
seats .
The canopy is large and very panoramic . The cockpit is standard "
wall to wall " upholstered .
We have included with the present message the general commercial offer
for FESTIVAL , for your better view .
If you see an interest , you can contact direct off the list .
Sincerely ,

Subject: | Smoke System Warning |
Group,
End of 2005 I had a "Smoking Airplanes" smoke
system installed in my CJ by a reputable AMO.
Today in the afternoon the cheap plastic elbow
near (and due) that heavy brass valve cracked
and the inside of my airplane is a living mess,
smoke oil everywhere.
So far for the MIL SPEC PARTS, now I am the
guy who is steaming - I do not need a smoke
system anymore.
I need a drink now.............
cheers

Well that rules out smoking airplane as the manufacturer of my future smoke
system.
So who else out there makes a reasonable system for a YAK-50?

viperdoc@mindspring.com writes:
I do not know what smoking gun s(whoever) charges for their stuff, but I am
will to bet you can build you own for almost the same price. The most
expensive item would be the pump, particularly if you go to an STC'd aircraft
fuel
pump. You may want one that runs on 24V (pricey) but you can find no
aircraft rated pumps, much cheaper.
Figure out where you want to mount the smoke oil tank. Make a card board
model with scissor and masking type. Figure how you'd want to mount it and
where would be the best place for a filler point. Take the model to almost any
welding shop and have them weld it up out of .040 aluminum. Your tank does
not have to be large. Mine holds a little over 5 gals. I made it the exact
same size as the old ADF box and mounted it on the same rack. The tank and oil
weight less than the ADF did so the rack will hold it (and has now for over
500 hours) just fine. 5 gals last long enough for most any show.
I found a RED tagged 24v fuel pump that ran, but the bearings were bad.
Since this in NOT a safety of flight item, it service its purpose fine. It was
very inexpensive. Common auto fuel hose from NAPA and simple hose clamps, the
hose runs for the tank, to the pump, to a though the fire wall T fitting.
>From there I use high press, stainless steel covered flexible hose to the
exhaust stacks.
Than all you need is a switch and wire to run the pump.
BTW. You can clean out the belly of the CJ fairly easy. Get some "Gunk" or
other good degreaser. Mix it 1/4 degreaser to 3/4 mineral spirits. Remove
the ADF cover on the belly. Have someone hang on the tail skip while you put
a couple of 2x4s under the nose wheel. Now spray inside the airframe. Now
rinse out with copious amounts of fresh water. You will not need high water
pressure, just let the water flow out. Just don't go spraying water on
electrical stuff of course. Leave her in the sun for a few hours, and she'll
dry
out nicely.
Smoke oil can be messy but it usually does not hurt the airframe.
