Mark,
Thanks for the input. My cyl temps are real good. Right in the middle. I
will try going a few clicks rich and see what that does.

Subject: | Re: Canopy wide open |
Just so happens I can provide some numbers here. My rear canopy is a little tricky
to latch, luckily I made new stops before one particular low pass at 196 KTS,
no wind, GPS. Then there was a Sun 'n Fun 60 race where that rear canopy popped
open on takeoff. Stayed open all the way, limiting my average speed to 158
KTS. During the flight I'm thinking "*&%$/*@ gear doors are hanging!
When flying on Lead's wing with Lead's canopy open or at the notch, closing the
canopy will cause the wingman to increase power to hold position.

Mark,
On the CJ the CHT adjustment is on the front.
My oil temps were accurate so I didn't look to adjust them.

Where is the adjustment, behind the gage itself?

Those temps were in a nice leisurely cruise. In the pattern buzzing around, the
oil creeps up to 80 or 90+.

Define "on the front"? On the front of the gauge?
And pardon me for behing half awake, but the CHT for the front seat gauge in
the CJ is around one of the #4 sparks and the CHT for the back seat gauge is
around one of the #1 cylinder spark plus, yes? I like the cup of hot water

When the CJ goes inverted, the oil stand pipe in the oil tank gets
filled. When it comes back to level flight this oil drains out and dumps
a few ounces of oil. If you could just get that oil to stay, or return
to the tank. problem solved. The Huosai has an atmospheric vent on top
of the supercharger. You will find a thumb screw cap in the vent tube.
Plumb the oil tank vent hose to this thumb screw opening. I took the
vent off the engine and threaded it for a * inch barbed hose fitting to
match the oil tank hose. (I seem to remember 1/2 inch?) No more leaking
oil. It has been this way for 40 hours now with no problems. It's a
quick fix that works. I have seen one other CJ with the same fix.

Speaking of CJ's and Huosai's, has anyone figured out any oil mods
(similar
to an inverted system) to keep from puking oil all over the place when
doing

I had a crack in the titanium exhaust repaired on my Yak-55M by an
excellent place in NJ. They also fabricated extensions to the outlet.
They specialize in exhaust repairs on materials ranging from stainless,
inconel, and titanium. I shipped them the parts UPS, they repaired and
shipped back.

It's easy to find someone to weld/repair these metals. It's difficult
to find someone capable of doing it correctly. I hope the above
recommendation helps someone else.
