The FAA is considering extending the chute repacking timeframe to 180 days.
There is a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking out that we should all comment on.

Well known repacker and RPA supporter Alan Silver has been hard at work
encouraging this rule change. Interesting, when it potentially cuts into his
business. I would guess, however, that unless you're a regular airshow participant
you might be less than religious about repacking every 120 days. ...Blitz
