I also enjoyed the many and various attempts at spelling my name. For your edification it is the English spelling of Graeme not Graham but when in the U.S. I have to say "Gray emm you know like Gray emm crackers" Ahh they say. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 02:18:25 AM PST US From: "Hans Oortman 1" Subject: RE: Yak-List: PS Engineering PM1200 We have the predecessor PM1000 in our Yak for years, works fine. I don't know what's going on in Romania, but the price increases have been absurd. As an example, the strut fill adapter necessary to service the struts with nitrogen has seen a three-fold increase in price over the past three years. The old price of $150 for this very simple part was high but bearable. The present price of $495 (if you can find one) will motivate many to find an alternate solution. I beleive that they operate on the therory of, wait till we get X orders (lets say X-12). Then they build 15 parts, deliver 12 and put 3 on the shelf. When those sell, they will wait for anouther 12 orders befor they build new parts. The big problem is that it may take 3-4 years to get 12 orders. I am sure that most of us would pay fair prices for parts when our aircraft are grounded and needed parts. But we will need to get our parts in a reasonable time frame. Unfortunatly the Romainians are still operating on the communist theory of buisness, and not on the free market theory. With the communist theory you do not care about the customer, They will always buy from you. With free market, you must provide the product at a fair price and on time or the customer will find a new supplier. We are already seeing the free market theory at work (M-14, Doug, and Bill) are starting to manufacture parts here in the US. As the Romanian parts go up in price, and take longer to get, this trend will continue to grow. Within the next two months, my aircraft wil be in the hanger as I start a total ground up restoration (hope to roll out summer 08). I will most likley be manufacturing most new parts needed myself. I am currently looking at manufacturing rebuild kits for the nose gear (new bushings, with instructions) and offering an exchange program for rebuilt nosegear. Also looking at offering recovered flight controls (Through Silver), with next day shipping.
