Installed by Yak UK behind the back seat. About 20 liters. With a reversible pump and a refill point on her belly !! Leaks a little bit but other than that ... no problem. And Yes, we do Flat spins and Lomcovaks ... with smoke. ;-)) You can contact Yak UK or Termikas for more info. See attached pictures. Cheers, Etienne Verhellen. http://www.yak52.fr/topic11/page2.html http://www.pilotlist.org/tagazous/gcbss.htm http://tagazous.free.fr/affichage.php?immat=G-CBSS http://www.aerobatics.org.uk/photos/profile.php?uid=84 _________________________________________________________________________ ____ = Does anyone have a smoke system in a Yak 55? I have the Smokingplanes system in the Yak 52. Mounted in the rear deck. I do not like the location's effect on the CG especially with a back seater. Although I did inverted spins and tumbles with the tank half full and a 160 lb GIB with no effect on recovery. Its a little inconvenient to fill also and it would be nice to have more capacity. I have had good luck, good performance, and no maint problems out of the system. Just wondering about alternatives for the 55 - even if people have used the Smokingplanes system - I would like to know how and where they have mounted. Thanks, Herb. _________________________________________________________________________ ____ = =0A---=0APack Scarlet One, ADSL 6 Mbps + Telephonie, a partir de EUR 29 ,95...=0Ahttp://www.scarlet.be/ ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 01:11:14 AM PST US From: "Lance Robb" Subject: RE: Re:Yak-List: Yak 55 smoke system Very nice flat spins......and I love the cockpit full of smoke too :) There I was thinking it only happened to our CJ6 ;-) Regards, Lance Robb Australia -----Original Message----- From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Etienne Verhellen Sent: Friday, 10 August 2007 5:53 PM Subject: Fw:Re:Yak-List: Yak 55 smoke system Hello Herb, "Janie", our Yak 52 (registered G-CBSS in the UK) has smoke system. Dennis Savarese" Subject: Re: Yak-List: 300 mile rule?? The FAA made that announcement last year. In March or April, FAA representatives, EAA and WBA representatives met and hammered out the changes that are due for FAA Order 8130.2f Change 3 (the current release). That included the elimination of the 300 AND the 600 mile proficiency areas. As to whether it will apply to all experimental exhibition aircraft regardless of Group, we'll just have to wait and see. The modified 52 converted to a tail dragger. If you are looking for a two seater that is. If you just want killer performance and a tail dragger, look at the 50. You'll have trouble going back to the 52 after that! Not knocking the 52 TW at all. The TD has the oil cooler out on the wing root so oil cooling is not a problem. There are somethings the TW's have done to improve their oil cooling like changing the type of oil cooler, adding air deflectors on the side of the cooler, moving it into the wing root, and adding exhaust stack extension to deflect the heat off the exhaust.
