I have a 7 points Hooker in my CJ (Yes, I know its an overkill, but is was a gift) When I installed it (about 6 years ago) it already had been used in an Extra 300 for 2 years. I will install a new set along with new bolts this winter. Life is just too short. D Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=130697#130697

Subject: Re: Marion Air Filter Base
Jim I have been using the Marion filter for 65 hours engine time and find no fault. In fact, the placement that I choose makes it easy and clean to change the filter and oil. It also helps the CG location. I bought the filters from Craig a couple of years ago. Initially, Craig didn't have the mount for the filter, just the filters. And cheap. The filter needs to be place on the oil line that is from the output side of the pump. Taking the input line off the oil cooler and swinging it 90 degrees to port gives you an idea of were to place the filter. All that you need is another short oil line from the filter to the cooler. Doug or Craig can help with that. This new line needs a 90 degree fitting and one straight fitting.I have attached some photos of the belly placement that I used. The mount that I used has a 25 lbs. by-pass valve. Ask Craig if his has the same. Why pay more when you can have the same for less. If I remember correctly, my mount came from Arizona. Some auto racing supply house. I would buy Craig's. I hope that this gives you another avenue. Jim B >>> "Jimbo Shanks" <shankeroid@verizon.net> 8/23/2007 1:53 PM >>> Does anyone know of a firewall-mount base for the Marion S-28 MG oil filter? Also any benefit of going with an ADC or Airwolf? Thanks. Jim Shanks shankeroid@verizon.net =====================

Folks, We are using Sony Vegas movie maker to create some short (1-3 min) formation clips. Lots of formats (MOV/AVI/MPG/WMV) and compression options, any videophile have an opinion they can send off list for: Most viewers (apple and windows) Good quality view, everything in synch, not stop and start video or sound, accurate motion is import to the concept Downloadable by dial up if they want to wait, but maybe a low quality version as well. Minimum frame rate acceptable? Minimum sound quality (kbps) I know there are experts out there that have worked this one over, thanks Drew ---------------------------------

Paul, Well that answered that question! No belly strobe. How are you mixing your smoke oil to get the flame effect? Not that I am going to go do that to the 50 though. Great video! I have a seven point in the 50 also. One seat belt mounts to the normal swiveling mount on the seat base and I mounted the other to seat pins on the floor. I did that instead of making an additional fitting attached to an aft bulkhead along with the additional cable attachment to the seat. Have to be careful after you pull the seats to not twist the belt (flip the turnbuckle) when you reinstall the seat pins. It will make for a lot of frustration when hooking up the crotch strap before TO. Done that, got the T shirt, and don't want it again! to the yak 55 guys out there be aware of the fact that the side straps for the harness are terminated in the bucket seat and not in the frame. high g's will pull out on the bucket rather than on the central structures. We moved the seat back since I am too tall for the cockpit and in so doing we had to remove the bucket. I was surprised to see the lateral harness straps attaching to the bucket itself. We corrected it by adding eye extensions into the central frame longerons. You may want to get a mirror and look down there. fly safe andres fougapilot <fougapilot@hotmail.com> wrote: I have a 7 points Hooker in my CJ (Yes, I know its an overkill, but is was a gift) When I installed it (about 6 years ago) it already had been used in an Extra 300 for 2 years. Face-planting a Yak or CJ coming out of the backside of a loop due to FOD flight control lockup would suck, huh? Hasn't happened for a few years. = COOLEST way to check for FOD?? Use your digital camera to take a picture of the tailcone and hard to see areas. Then blow up the picture and see what you can find. Beer cans, Bikini's, Binoculars.... pull them out. We can argue about which came first, which is a warbird and which oil additive to not use.... but FOD has to go. Anybody have any recent FOD finds?? I'm not going to mention any names, but there was a Yak 50 down at my local FBO in for annual. I had witnessed this very airplane aggressively flying dogfights a few weeks prior. During the annual, the following were removed from the tail: Metal AA size flashlight Metal ball point pen several fuel receipts and a few other small items that I can't quite recall. These items were wedged way back in the tail - such that a typical bang on the tail F.O.D. check would not have revealed their presence. When is the last time you removed a panel to check for F.O.D.?
