CHECK ~! From: "Tim Gagnon" Another way is to buy a lipstick camera (helmet cam..what ever you want to call it.) and get a small lense for it. You can use your hand and see your FOD inspection in real time. Or you can buy a FOD kit from someone on here and mitigate part of the problem....but not eliminate the inspection. CHECK ~! CJ-6a had jammed elevator. There was no fod we could find. I found one small screw missing from the back control stick boot. It was not in the belly but the stick would not come aft of neutral. Felt like a control lock stop . Four tries later a magnet probe pulled it out of the control tubes under the seat, wedge tight between the inner and outer tubes covered in grease. The screw had a clear shot to fall there from the boot and a opening in the outer tube. This was a small screw that was totally out of sight and about a foot up the tube looking from behind. He is still in the hospital, but expects to be out tomorrow. They wanted to keep an eye on him. He is one tough SOB! There was nothing left of the plane, as you can see in that little picture. I think he hurt his hand (holding the stick) and possibly broken collar bone.
