Brian:
You are correct, the problem appears to be a restriction in the line to the actuator.
Also, to fix it, you need know noting about Mr. B, fluid dynamics, Gas
Laws, etc.
Mark:
Does the pilot move the gear lever at the same rate in each case?

Folks:
I am new to radial engines. The quick drains on these engines is
usually placed on the intake tubes on the lower cylinders. However,
some times when pulling the prop through, oil comes out the exhaust
stack. Is this an issue? What is the difference if the oil comes out
the intake or exhaust? Or is there any?
Thanks,
Craig

Guys,
We literally have almost 1000 of these lamps.
Yes, you can gut the Russian SM-28 lamp to retrofit a GE-327 lamp into
them.
It's time consuming and a pain in the @ss.
The life time is about the same.
I have also found direct LED replacement lamps for about $14ea which
will never require replacement again.
Cheers,
Cliff

Good morning,
At the risk of opening up the proverbial can of
rotting worms, I was curious as to the community's
opinion of what the recommended procedures are after a
gear up landing has occurred and a prop strike
(2-bladed wooden prop) occurs and the prop shatters.
I am specifically referrring to what one should do
with the engine and not the prop, flaps or tail skid
that would have been damaged. In essence, if the
plane has flown 300+ hours since this occured, is it
still foolish to think that the engine was unharmed?
Any and all opinios welcome.
Thanks,
John P. Graham

Pose the question to Carl/Jill Hays, jill@m-14p.com since Carl and Jill have
been involved in many M14 engine tear downs after a prop strike.

I need a front brake cable for my 52. I have the flip over parking brake on my
stick and need one with a 68" adjustment outer sleeve. The cycle shops in my
area can't or won't make a new one for me. Any help would be appreciated.

Prop Strike
In reply to John Graham, I would reiterate what I have previously said,
and that is that anyone who continues to fly with M14P after anything
worse than a GENTLE prop-strike has little sense of self-preservation.
The formal instructions from Russia are that ANY prop strike MUST result
in a total engine strip and check.
My PERSONAL view is that if the engine is idling, and does not stop, and
only two / three inches are lost from the propeller, it is unlikely that
any damage would have occurred.
If however the prop has shattered, I honestly believe the engine is
time-bomb. One of our customers had a relatively gentle prop-strike -
at idle; changed the prop and continued to fly. A few hours later,
while taxiing-in from an aerobatic sequence, the gearbox broke and the
engine locked solid. Even at idle it cracked two engine-mounts, and
under full power the engine would have come straight out of the
aircraft.
Having said all that if it has flown over 300 hours, I doubt if it is
going to break now!
