Janet, Good luck. I will try to raise him but he seldom answers his cell phone and he does not answer email. Retirement must be great! I flew over his hanger Sunday with no sign of life down there. David McGirt has a better back channel contacts for him than I do. I guess I should have said "Fake" Aerostars from the "left side of the?pond" can be seen flying a performance from the Waukegan, Illinois USA 2007. Some of the footage was taken from the crowd by a member of the public and some was taken by a fixed camera from the left wingman's plane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42sgCp2JCq4 The REAL Aerostars fly a super Yak 52 as lead and the? five wingmen fly Yak 50s. The plain old Aerostars fly Yak 52TWs and there are only three. Hopefully this will clear up any confusion. Let me know if the REAL Aerostars are going to be booking any shows on the left side of the pond in 2008. I would like to see a show, I'm sure I would enjoy the performance. I would also like to find out how they got all six planes over here and how long that it took. I like the REAL Aerostars. For our CJ 50th, we should aspire to such perfection. Be inspired. Cut the picture out and stick it on the bathroom mirror where you'll see it every day between now and then. ...Blitz ************************************** You might find some additional good formation shots of that 35 ship in the link below. Glad you liked it. Cant wait to see the 50 ship next year. Hope we did not set the bar too high for ya. HA!. Had to get a dig in here somewhere. BPX, I do not post often, but I take offense at the thought that you would call the American performance FAKE. Our guys are real , as their performance attests. McGirt , Willliams, and Walker are to be Highly commended for the level of skill they are demonstrating. A really great show. By the away the English guys are terrific also. Regards David H. We don't want to take credit for this video.. But, on a side note - there are several great airshow teams around the world, as it turns out, two of them are using the AeroStar's name - one in the UK and one in the US Both are great professional teams , and I might suggest that they work together to use each other's teams to better the overall look.. In the US, the RedStar Pilots Association has used the "RedStars" name for all of the smaller groups that perform around the country, and to that end , everyone benefits from the collective work, and national backing that provides. BTW - we are one of these groups - we can not take credit for the great show the US Aerostar's put on.. Just my .02 , we will be performing this weekend in Sparta, TN come, and bring beer.. :) David "Talon" McGirt On 9/18/07 11:26 AM, "napeone" <napeone@aol.com> wrote: > > BPX, > I do not post often, but I take offense at the thought that you would call the > American performance FAKE. Thanks guys for your candor both on the list and off. Seems they dont like to answer the phone.. so I was wondering how risky it was. Almost like they dont want the business. From: "Scooter" <yakk52@verizon.net>
There was a post a while back about brake cables. It touched off some discussion about buying from the suppliers vs. making your own. I assume 68" is standard. Here's the post: I am about to produce a direct replacement brake cable for a Yak 52. (the one that terminates at the forward control stick). The original got pinched as it went through the floor. I can get a break on price for qty of 12 or more. Price is expected be $110 plus shipping. All components are AN hardware and cable is SS. Can you all help me with demand for an initial order? Reply to this message or to my e-mail directly. Thank you. Hi John The 68" is not so standard. Of the several Yaks in my area only 2 have the same cable as mine. Most of the Yaks I am told have a cable adjuster / housing of 5 inches less. The cable is the same length not the housing. I have decided to make a bracket to fit the short cable. I have been quoted 60 days until I can get one from the mother land that actually fits. The price I am not sure of. I really only need the cable. I was trying to find something in a hurry to be able to go to the Lamar Red Star get together. Not sure if there is much of a need for the "standard" cable as I had several of those offered to me by the local guys.
