I waited a couple of minutes to see if it would come up but it never did so I shut her down. Preflight oil check had indicated 10 liters of oil. Next I looked carefully at the oil pressure gauge as I turned the power on and off and noticed the needle did move as the instrument came alive. I tried restarting and noticed the oil pressure was actually into the small yellow range on the dial but it normally is way at the top of the green. I shut her down again and put her away not knowing what to do next. After leaving I realized I should have tried starting from the real cockpit and checked the pressure on the rear gauge. I would appreciate some advice on how to diagnose this problem without damaging the engine. The previous flight was about three weeks ago and I did not notice any problem at that time. The only time I have ever noticed any lack of indicated pressure is immediately after changing the oil when it takes 10 seconds or so for the pressure to come up. Any suggestions on what to do next? I also notice at times very low oil pressure if starting without preheating the oil, I think the pump cavitate's trying to push the thick oil and I've been told that it can damage the oil cooler. I use electric heating pads and red dragon to pre-heat. Try warming it up and see if that solves your problem.
