All northern are sinner. For if God had wanted men to live in the snow and
ice, He would put more hair on their bodies.
Therefore those of us who live in the south are sainted. We know we will go
to Heaven because we followed His will. You Yankees will have a lot of
penance to do (like buying us southern's some beer at OSH in July) or you surely
go to Hell. :)

Pappy,
There's two of us Yaks down here in Stuart SUA waitin on this friggin fog to
lift. Been up since 0600 talking to flight service, doesn't look good until
late morning at earliest. We had planned to land at 28J for fuel. Drop an
email if you have time before you launch to let us know weather has improved
in your area. You watching that system over Mobil moving east? Hope it
stays to the north of KAYS.

Sorry to say guys. That low developing over the Gulf/Mobile is going to
move. We have rain forcast for Sat at MGM and low overcast for for Sun. I'm
not planning to depart until Fri if at all.
Fly safe. Pappy, if you got to buck up your courage it's probably best to
wait another hour or at least have another two fingers! :>))

may not break until 1000 hours in this area of Florida (DAB/JAX).
Since I told Shane I'd get there ASAP, I am going to launch direct from= FD44
as soon as I get 1,000&3 here. Perhaps an mid air join up mig= ht be possible

Subject: | Differences between Series I and Series II |
In reply to Jan, it is theoretically possible to convert Series I to
M14PF. However by the time that you have nine new cylinders; Series II
gearbox etc the cost would make it prohibitive.
Certainly the view of Vedeneyev is that the Series I should not be
converted to 400hp.
Having said that it is a conversion that I have seen done on Series I
engines, and I am not personally aware of any specific problems that
have occurred!

Subject: | M-14P SAE prop flange trade |
Hi - I recently purchased a new M-14PF engine that came with the SAE
prop flange - this engine has less than 100 hours and was used on a
Helio Courier, so no aerobatics. I'm putting this engine on one of my
Yaks, and thus would prefer the normal Russian prop flange. Does anyone
out there have a new or near new nose section with Russian prop flange
they would like to trade for the SAE flange nose case?
Thanks,

The wx isn't cooperating with me to get the 500+ miles to AYS. [Crying or Very
sad]
Got an inch of snow this morning, rain blocking me off in S. Carolina, and looking
a little iffy to get home to MD Sunday.
Have fun, wish I was there! :(

Interesting.....I like the cowl changes. Would like to see another
head in the back seat to understand how the canopy fits....
I just wonder if someone goes through the trouble of enclosing the nose
gear, why they still left that big hole. Can it be closed?
I'd like to see more pictures of the airplane.

Bruce,
I not sure what power settings you are using but an M-14P powered CJ with a Yak
paddle blade will climb at 2100 fpm with 2 people and full fuel. This number
has been verified by a number of conversions. 3-blade props climb harder but
don't seem to go any faster, not that I've seen anyway. You didn't mention an
altitude for the 160KTS IAS but my 80% Sea Level cruise is 165 IAS and 168 KTS
GPS @ 80 F; full throttle and 2900 rpm is way faster but burns "petrol" at an
alarming rate. At 180 KTAS, the ailerons are stiff and my head bounces of the
canopy in turbulence. I suspect that the turboprop will not make a better airplane,
only faster.
My old 285 HP engine could true out at 155 KTAS at 8500 MSL, but climb rate was
only 1200 FPM. Some are faster, some are slower. Empty weight and rigging of
the airframe and gear door fit accounts for most of the differences.
P.S. my CJ is modified a mite.
