The problem is that the wings still need to be sent both ways across the wa ter.I supose it might make sense if one sent [say]3 sets of wings to be don e together. Good point Richard. But getting 2 or 3 sets of wings to the same location in a country the size of the US is challenging and costly too. I been speaking with Cliff....but here it is: 18-20gallons in the leading edge for ~$7k. It's simple & safe. It doesn't muck with airflow or speed. It's very close to the CG and aside from the flush patches, doesn't require structural modification to the wing. http://www.flickr.com/photos/borderair/sets/72157603794506973/ Cliff -- Clifford Coy Director of Maintenance Border Air Ltd 629 Airport Rd. Please send info and price ASAP. I am about to order the bladder mod. but will delay until I see what you have. Yeah, and probably climb out straight up at Vne! But then there's the problem of a cruise burn rate of 35 gph *at altitude* you're gonna need a bunch of fuel. Speaking of fuel... We are getting closer to our first set of 30 gallon tanks for the CJ. They are one piece metal tanks that DO NOT require taking the wings off the aircraft, removing the butt rib, etc. They also maintain the integrity of the original system using the same vent lines, senders, and gauge (recalibrated for the extra capacity). No maintenance or life span concerns as with the bladder system. Will be priced competitively and a straight forward "do it yourself" installation kit will be made available after we get the first few sets installed. From: "CJcanuck" <m_kirk69@hotmail.com>
Hi All! Having found my old water filter to be scrap, and now in possession of a very nice Stainless Steel Filter body plus dissicant material kit (thank you Doug!) I need some info on the best way to put the whole thing back together again. Firstly, the small metal screens that separated the felt filters aren't in the best of shape, is it possible to use an alternative material, say a fine fiberglass mesh? Next, is it wise to use teflon tape or something similar on the threads of the filter body? How about on the rest of the air system? Thanks! Keep Teflon tape off the system and out of the system. If Doug does not have the fine mesh brass screens, Carl Hayes does.
