She also sent me a primer seal, which is a flat O-ring (a square-ring?) that is thicker than the one I had in my tank that leaked. I just sent the tanks off for testing. When I get them back I'll let you know how the new O-ring works. And if it doesn't work I'll be trying the new primer seal. -Steve Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=162010#162010 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:42:33 AM PST US From: "A. LOCATION: Sebring Regional (KSEF). Under negotiations now on fuel and hotel discounts and other services. These folks want the RPA's regular (annual) presence and are working with us well. DATE: March 7-9 FOCUS: Fun flying - and great training for wing candidates and Flight Lead upgrades...While wing candidates will always be our focus, the association now has a very high percentage of rated wingmen. In speaking with the new pointy head (Darrell) at Waycross, a fresh focus is now on Flight Lead candidates through the new lead seminar and sortie training as well. The event will "flex" based on attendance and student load, from basic training to mass formation practice. In a nut shell: Friday afternoon arrival. --Ground school seminar. The hope for future RPA clinics is, based on wingmen candidates home studying the new RPA formation manual, the massive ground school power point will be somewhat reduced in duration, saving more time for flying. -- Fly as able too naut twlight --Evening dinner and CRUD training if possible/desired (suitable location is being determined) Saturday, all day: --Fly, fly, fly --Dusk: Lead Pilot Seminar. This is NOT a boring slide show, but a very interactive event for all wingmen and leads. Its a new required item as per the FF&P. Pizza or other good stuff with "liquid refreshments" will be on hand. --Evening: Dinner, long tales at the bar, possible CRUD tournament. Sunday --Fly, Fly, Fly...until 1430 or as needed for RTB. Check pilots are on hand. Based on numbers, Mass Formation practice is an option, to include looking at the Oshkosh "Five-Zero" plan Based on students, this event needs backseat instructors. It should be a great time as Sebring is motivated to support the RPA. Thanks to Sam Sax and Tamiami folks for kick starting this concept, I realize this is only 5 weeks away, but if you are within a few hours of Sebring, try to make it out and support the standing up of a much needed Florida central fly-in. register online at www.flyredstar.org Chunks Never miss a thing. In it I plan photos and brief specs for the aircraft typicall flown by our members. To that end, I'm in search of some information that I can't seem to find by searching the internet. 1. Does anyone have a reasonably accurate number of CJs and Yak 52s in the US and Canada? I did find a census of Yak 50s. There appear to be 29 in the US and none in Canada. Right/wrong? 2. What's the typical cruise speed and Vne for a Yak 50? 3. How many 52TWs & TDs are in the US and Canada? 4. Do the 52TWs uniformly have 400hp M14s? I am also positive that Cliff Coy knows EXACTLY how many TW's were built, since he has probably assembled them all when they got to the USA (except mine, which was pulled from the shipping container by my friend George Coy, who put my plane together with his right arm in a cast!). This was an almost perfect exciting day. First took off from our airpark under near perfect skies with John Ford in tow. We formated over to Flager. In route I tried my new auto pilot for the first time. John took up a respectful distance as I engaged the servo for the time. After putting in a brief appearance with Bill Mills and John I bugged down to New Symerna Beach airport to test fly the B-24 fresh out of overhaul. Rob Collings and I had to abort the first takeoff at about 30kts, because #2 engine started popping at 40" and we started seeing fluid pouring from the engine. The fluid turned out to be water and the popping was cause by the wiring harness being wet too. The next attempt went much better, with just few minor write ups, that still need fixing. Pretence of another great season. I than bugged back up to Flager for fuel and hoping to catch the guys still doing some formation there. Except for Mills and Boz all were gone. I shot the breeze for a little while and than Boz hooked on to my wing and we made an element takeoff. After giving Boz a little training maneuvering, we broke formation and I head home into a setting sun. On arriving overhead at Eagle's Nest I found dead smooth air, under clear skies, and unlimited visibility. Just could not help myself. Cuban 8, a loop, and some hammer heads turns, my day was done with the sun. Stepping out of my cockpit, my neighbor Doug Vada (neat guy, is the test pilot for Extra here in the US) walked up and handed me a beer! Man! just how perfect can my day get?!!!!!! I must be doing sometime good, cause God is sure good to me! Pappy **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music.
