I don't have a tax lawyer, What other benefits are there for setting up the plane
as a business?
Can anyone recommend a lawyer in Jersey? Is this a must?
Thanks

Gang,
Apparently there's a lot of you with long legs! Here are answers to
the questions I'm getting.
1) Price is $250/set. One set does one rudder pedal assembly.
2) Installation is dead nuts simple. Take out the arm (2 bolts per
side), remove pedal and install on new arm, and reinstall.
3) Designed to withstand 300 lbs. of pressure...stronger and lighter
than the original.
4) First run will happen next week, hopefully. We should be shipping
inside of two weeks.
5) Payment options are currently check or COD. We will soon be
accepting CC's...
6) Design will work in front and back of the CJ and Yak-52. Also fits
the -50.
Contact me offline for pics of the prototype. Thanks for the support!

The biggest benefit of incorporating yourself/plane is that if you bail out and
God forbid you plane lands on a school bus of children, you can't be sued for
every dime you have. The corporation gets sued and the only asset in the corporation
is the airplane, which is totalled.
So by going this way there are no taxes on the purchase of the plane as well?

An LLC may give you some liability protection but any decient lawyer, will be able
to pierce the corporate veil and sue you or whoever owns or flies the aircraft.
Tax Advantages From;
http://www.aviationtaxconsultants.com/
Q : Can I use a Delaware corporation to avoid sales tax?
A : The age-old myth is to use an out-of-state entity to avoid paying sales or
use tax on the purchase of an aircraft. No, you can not legally avoid paying
sales or use tax by using a Delaware, Nevada or Montana entity. The state that
you domicile your aircraft has the legal authority to levy sales or use tax
on your aircraft. In this era of revenue deficits, many states have dramatically
stepped up their enforcement efforts to assess sales or use tax on aircraft
purchases. Their tactics range from obtaining aircraft registration information
directly from the FAA, auditing aircraft manufacturers or dealers sale
records, to requiring airports / FBOs to submit listings of tail numbers of aircraft
that are hangared at their airport.
Since Delaware cooperation dont work as a realistic way to avoid sales tax. You
need to look for other workable strategies. One way is to form an LLC in your
state, obtain a sales tax license, and then rent the aircraft to your self
for use on an hourly basis. You then will only have to pay tax on the rental
income.
http://www.aviationtaxconsultants.com/
They wants at least $7000 to set up a plan to avoid sales taxes, which is a bit
expensive to try to avoid the $4000 to $8000 is sales tax your yak purchase
will set you back.
So if anyone has used other strategies to avoid having to pay Sales Taxes please
email me. Or share them with the rest of the list.

Subject: | Linkage from Differential valve to rudder pedals |
Hi All,
Ive noticed im not getting full rudder deflection on a Yak 52 and it appear
s to be hitting the end of travel on the differential valve before hitting
the rudder stops.
Looking at the drawings it appears there is a spring cartridge in the link
between the rudder pedals and the differential valve. Im guessing its to al
low's for full travel of the rudder. Has anyone had any trouble with this o
r has more information on its operation.
regards
Chris

Subject: | Re: Linkage from Differential valve to rudder pedals |
Chris,
I have seen a similar situation on one other Yak 52. Hopefully what
I'm about to describe will be of some benefit. Go to the arm on the
front side of the brake differential valve (forward of the main spar).
It has the two adjuster bolts going thru it. Put you thumb and index
finger on the end of the arm where it connects to the bar going aft
through the main spar. Now try moving the arm vertically from this
junction. There should be very minimal movement when you attempt to
move the arm up and down. If there is vertical movement, there is wear
on the arm where it mounts to the differential valve. Here's the point
to all this.
If the arm can move up and down at the end, it also moves the bar and
spring mechanism up and down as it passes through the elliptical hole in
the main spar. Because the arm is able to move up and down it can cause
the nut at the adjustment section of the spring mechanism to hit the
bottom of the elliptical hole, causing the rudder travel to come to a
stop, or effectively jam.
I removed the arm from the brake differential valve (pretty easy to do
by removing the pin) and made a shim and drilled a hole in it for the
pin from a piece of stainless steel shim stock, maybe about .010 thick,
and placed it between the bottom of the bracket holding the arm and the
arm itself, thus eliminating the slop. Once I did this, the bar/spring
mechanism was able to move freely through the elliptical hole in the
spar.
Hope this helps.
Dennis
