    From: "fougapilot" <fougapilot@hotmail.com>
Folks, I just changed both elevator cables on my CJ. We measured the tension yesterday and ran into a small problem. Old man winter!!!!! You see, the information I'm getting on tension is the the cables should be 40lbs at 72 Deg F. Well it's still mighty cold here in the great white north (-20deg C overnight :( [Crying or Very sad] [Evil or Very Mad] [Twisted Evil] [Twisted Evil] [Twisted Evil] ), so unless I want to spend thousands of $$ in heating to get my cables to warm up to 72deg F, I would need to find a temperature compensation table. Anyone can help? Thanks, Dan Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=166892#166892

We had been having problems starting our 52TW, it would always start but seemed difficult to get the engine up to a steady idle. Often we found a lot of fuel in the lower cylinder drain valve. We found that the nozzle which sprays primed fuel into the system was clogged and appeared to be dripping fuel down the manifold rather than atomizing it. Has anyone had a similar experience? Dan, I am emailing you the Yak 52 cable tension chart with temperature compensation, off-list. It does have a trim cable chart which you may be able to use since the size of the trim cables is about the same I believe. I don't have one for the CJ or I'd send that to you. Hope it helps. Dan; When I get to the hangar in about 1 hour or so (Noon your time) I will look that up in the Harvard manual for you. It will be for 1/8" cable but definitely close enough. Give me a call at 250-498-8387. Hi Dan, I sent you the info with pics. UPDATE: We had to make a slight adjustment to the prototype after test fitting in a CJ. We want to make it perfect. New design should be done today. We'll test fit, then do destructive load testing and are hopeful it will be ready to go next week... Sun 'n Fun could solve that problem...or you could take out the rear hatch, cover the airplane and pipe in your pre-heater hose to warm the inards. Craig Payne cpayne@joimail.com

I had almost the same experience. Turned out I had a leaking primer hose that was leaking underneath the fire shield cloth and was hard to see. Try this for a test. Next time you prime the engine, leave the primer handle turned and do not center it. Start the engine. This will allow fuel to continue to come through the priming line and the engine will run very rich, but will help it to continue to run. Once the engine is firmly running, put the primer handle to vertical. When I looked mine, there was no "atomizing nozzle" Ira, just a straight line that screws into the manifold. If you have the lower cylinder drains... Yes, there is ALWAYS extra fuel in there when you prime.
