Subject: Yak-List: Oshkosh hotels
Folks,
The magazine has an article on Oshkosh, it describes in detail the University
Of Wisconsin facilities that you can use during Oshkosh - believe me, if we all
used this plan, the gaggle/cluster factor would drop considerably;
RPA has reserved basically an entire dorm building (call it a "hotel" or "hooch"),
$25 for a shared room with 2 beds or $50 for a solo room. This is some 100
rooms if used by members and puts the entire group together, lowering the "gaggle
factor".
All in walking distance of the breakfast hall, bar ("underground"), banquet hall,
flight/association briefing/meeting room, gym and pool (which should be in
service). The Univ is 3 miles from the airfield.
RPA has found two young ladies who have volunteered to help set up all off-field
facilities
We have to turn in these reserved rooms at the RPA Hootch if members do not reserve
their slot with a $50 dollar reservation fee - you can go to the RPA website
and register via the "Oshkosh Billeting" sign up form, an RPA volunteer
will contact you via email or phone to ask for your $50 and where to send it.
Time is very short on holding the hooch, so if saving you $$$ and hassle (no rental car is needed if staying in the hooch, EAA and RPA will have shuttle support), please register asap at www.flyredstar.org under Fly-Ins - oshkosh billets/hotel
